How do I stop what seem to be Junk Notifications? I've gone thru Notifications in Settings and there seems to be every time I go there something I didn't sign up for. Now I'm getting Halloween Notifications. Where do they come from? Is my Mac infected with something?

Those instructions are fro an older OS. I did go to Login Items and remove "maftask" which I think might be the problem but I couldn't find that or Mac Auto Fixer anywhere on my Mac and I could not delete it from Activity Monitor.
You could try Malwarebytes for Mac that is mentioned in that thread. There is a free version you can download but it has limited capabilities. It is safe to download if you do it from the developer's website.
I restarted my Mac and checked Notifications and there it is again. I did uncheck everything and selected None for the alerts. So how can I get rid of it and where is it hiding? Is there somewhere I can show invisible files?

But the free version may not remove the malware.
If you have a Time Machine backup dating from before all this trouble began, you can go into Recovery mode and restore from that backup.

It is a kind of malware. See the suggestions in this thread. Is MAC AUTO FIXER a legitimate arm of of Apple. It comes on when I turn on the Mac. How can I get rid of it?
Yes. But ignore the part at the bottom about downloading something called Freshmac.
