Why does DST not automatically update?

iphone X version 12.0.1

automatic updates and location services are on.

This morning my iPhone and my wife’s (same specs) did not automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. When I went to time settings there was a message that said new time was available and retart to install.

I have noticed this to be to be an issue for the last couple years. I have been using iPhones since the iPhone 3 and it used to automatically update but the last couple years it has been having problems. Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

I have been using iPhones and iPads for years and have never had this issue.

I have been using AT&T and T-mobile as my carrier.

If this has been an ongoing issue for years, have you been using the same carrier?

Are your wife and you on the same carrier?

Who is your cellular carrier? I had a similar issue many years ago where the time failed to update (but it did update later in the day) and it was an issue caused by the carrier.
