p49-imap.mail.me.com on Mojave

Hi

Shortly after I upgraded to Mojave, I haven't been able to receive emails to my iCloud.com address.

I'm using Apple's Mail so it should all be seamless. To make matters worse, as it's an iCloud.com address on Mail, there are no settings I can check, let alone change.

Yet all I get is the following error:

"Connections to host p49-imap.mail.me.com on the default ports failed."

If I go to iCloud in System Preferences, everything looks fine.

I can send emails, but cannot receive them on my Mac via Mail. However I can receive them on my iPhone or if I log on to iCloud.com on Safari, but that's not an ideal long term solution.

Have anyone else experience this and more importantly, know how to fix it?

Nothing is so cut and dry and yet this issue did happen after upgrading to Mojave - and 10.14.1 didn't resolve the issue.

There is a solution that doesn't necessitate a clean hard drive and reinstall (which is analogous to curing the disease by killing the patient).

The solution is simple but if you are on metered bandwidth it may not be a cheap one: fully log out of iCloud from System Preference.

I don't mean just untick the Mail option - that just doesn't solve the issue.

No. I mean click on "Sign Out" bottom left of that Preference Pane.

When you log back in, the iCloud email glitch should hopefully be resolved (I worked for me). However Photos will then want to resync your photos and my bandwidth was clogged for hours because of that.

But at least I can now receive emails on my Mac, so yay, I guess.

if you delete iCloud mail account from location system preferences - internet accounts it will not effect your photos , or iCloud documents folders because when you open system preferences - click on iCloud drive - again click on option button you can see desktops and documents , mail , notes ....all are checked and all are separate and will not delete documents and desktop files / folders , notes ...photos ...

In a scenario , if you had signed out from iCloud account then it will take hours to download/sync from the iCloud server , and you are not signing out the iCloud account .

You are just deleting iCloud mail account from Mac as it is corrupted , all the mail data is stored on the iCloud server it will download again when it is configured , if you are still having doubts for my answer take suggestions from apple support before deleting the account see this links Contact - Official Apple Support

Are you using gmail account and an iCloud account ? the gmail address is kept same as your Apple ID address , and when you open system preferences - iCloud - the Apple ID is signed in this location .

If this settings is already used , the mail will start syncing the Mac has to be connected to high network speed .

Also open mail > take cursor on top menu bar > mail > add account > check the box of goggle > click on continue > type the gmail address in the upcoming window > click on next > it will prompt to enter the password for gmail account and click on save , same way for iCloud account .

But I don't know which mail service you use ( but this is the only simple method to add accounts ) .

Any more queries , please post back .

You have to click on get mail icon shown with arrow .

There is no such issue after upgrading to Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1 , either there were glitches while installation the operating system or some third party applications have been used after installation .

For such problems clean the hard drive and reinstall os ( make sure you have backed up the data , set up iCloud accounts , and having high network speed to install once again ) .
