Iphone Xs Max Portability

Has anyone experienced a problem with moving from another carrier to Verizon Wireless? I moved to Verizon from T-Mobile. According to Apple, my new iPhone Xs Max can be used across all major US carriers. Unfortunately that is only partly true with Verizon. Verizon does not support Visual Voicemail on my Max. The following is what I received from a Verizon support person:

"Visual voicemail is not currently supported on all devices purchased from other carriers or directly from the manufacturer. We are always looking to improve service which includes visual voicemail compatibility. For the time being you can review this resource. Voicemail FAQs | Verizon Wireless"

I think that this is very short sighted and heavy handed. I am sure there are many people like me who purchase their iPhones directly from Apple.

Where you purchased your iPhone is irrelevant. Visual voicemail is a carrier feature NOT an iOS feature. The fact that Verizon doesn't offer or support it on some devices is there problem or choice and you should be venting at or to them. Apple has no part in that choice or failure.

I am very much an Apple person. I purchase all my Apple products directly from Apple. My complaint is with Verizon. I have spent 3+ weeks dealing with my issue with them. I think Apple should be aware of Verizon's predatory behavior and polices. I have reported this issue to Apple Support 3 times.

To be clear my question and subsequent complaint is against Verizon, not Apple. Verizon is being very heavy handed by denying certain services to their customers who buy their iPhones directly from Apple and not from Verizon. My post is a warning to others regarding Verizon.
