iPad Pro 2018 WiFi problems

Hi,

I have the new iPad pro for a few days now. I notice that the iPad no longer has internet access for a certain period of time. this takes 10 minutes, or I do a restart. When I use a hotspot, the problem is the same. It is very annoying.

This is not the answer to this issue. The issue is that our iPad Pro 2018 is still connected to WiFi but is not connected to the internet. This happens when I close my iPad and then reopen it after a few minutes. It’s still connected to WiFi but is no longer connecting to the internet. I’ve returned my iPad thinking it was just my device. I bought another one iPad 12.9 and still this is happening

There is no one in ANY of these Apple Support Communities from any Apple product teams, here.

Cognizant or responsible Apple product teams, designers and engineers do not read, nor participate in these Apple technical support communities.

These are, largely, Apple product user to user technical support communities.

I and others, in these Apple product support communities, are simply Apple product users, just like you, that volunteer our own time and knowledge here.

Apple supplies these forums for users to work out their product issues with other users, but these community forums ARE monitored/moderated by Apple Staff, as well as Apple Community Support Specialists, assigned to these community forums, but I do not think any specific user posted info is ever passed on to who/mever the cognizant parties are who would need to know if there are any mounting issues with any Apple product or software.

These ASC ONLY moderators and staffers, due to Apple privacy policies, do not forward any info contained/obtained from ANY postings within these communities to any cognizant Apple staff, teams or individuals.

The only way to get Apple to, DIRECTLY, listen to you is to use their feedback portion of their website.

iPad Feedback

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Cognizant Apple employees read ALL feedback generated from all of the various feedback pages and transfers the data to the proper and responsible Apple teams and personnel , but NO Apple employees will ever respond with any type of direct, individual replies from the feedback you post.

The more users that post product feedback about any product issue, the faster Apple is made aware and starts working on a fix/solution for a future software update.

Also, you may want to phone contact Apple, directly in Cupertino, California, and calmly talk to an Apple customer service employee about this issue via the link below.

I also have this problem. the iPad Pro 2018 12.5” (plus cell) when it sometimes wakes from sleep, is connected to the router but NOT able to get to the internet. Also, it will NOT connect via LTE either. The ONLY fix is a hard boot. After the hard boot, immediate connection to WiFi and internet.

It it seems that it only happens towards the end of the day. Battery around 50%. After its charges all night, I don’t have trouble again until the next evening.... when the batter is again around 50%.

turning OFF WiFi auto connect works. When the ipad wakes up, I manually connect to the network. No problems getting to the internet. If the iPad doesn’t go into sleep mode, no problems with dropping or not being able to connect to the internet.

my home network is not the issue. Every other device (apple or otherwise) we have works fine. Router is apple AirPort Extreme. Service is AT&T.

i think that there is a power management bug on this iPad.

this is not the issue. The issue is that the iPad Pro 2018 is connect to WiFi its on the network. But, it doesn’t see the internet. See my post below.

also weird is that when this happens (for me, only when it wakes up after sleep, with battery around 50% or less) is that the airport utility also suggests that the router is no longer on the network. Well, it is.... I’m connect to it as are other devices in the house and all of them are surfing right at the same moment!

there is some kind of software bug.... or possibly a hardware problem or combo causing this to happen. It’s not the router IMO.

I have this issue too on the 11.5 inch model. The issue happens usually when waking up from sleep. It seems to happen more often when the iPad is standing upright with the smart folio.

Restoring the iPad doesn’t work. The only thing that fixes it is, as noted, rebooting the iPad. Also, the functionality will return after about 10 minutes as was also noted. Issue happens at any battery level.

Probably a software problem with the way the iPad wakes up. Waiting on a firmware update to hopefully fix the issue.

I have this same issue on my IPad 2018 11. No connection from anywhere from 1Hr to 24 hrs... Even a reboot does not Resolve the issue for me. Also tried to isolate, by turning off WiFi then alternately Cellular, but this also did not affect the issue. Brought my new IPad back to NYC store and they swapped it for a new one since it was only a week old. Everything seemed fine, but now I am having the same issue on this one too, and I have only had it a few days... Love the new IPad and Pen otherwise, and have been going paperless, but need the internet in order to accomplish this! Apple PLEASE HELP!!! This seems to be a big issue on multiple devices...

I had these issues and I never use the camera or headphone adapters. My WIFI connection would drop OR my WIFI connection would remain on but the iPad could not reach the internet. This was intermittent at times. Sometimes, I would click on a page and the connection was lost, I'd refresh the page and the connection was back. I tried resetting the network, restoring the entire iPad, using various WiFi's that were successful with my other devices, etc. The only success I had was connecting to my home Airport Extreme. Other than that, it was touch and go. I need to be on the internet so I tried getting a data plan on the e-SIM card. That did not work either. The carrier offered to send me a free SIM card because it could not get the e-SIM card to work. You are probably noticing the past tense. That's because I returned the iPad Pro 2018. This is the first time I have ever returned an Apple product. At that price point, I wanted convenience, not troubleshooting practice. Bottom line: I really cannot have a mobile device with connectivity problems.

In speaking with Apple support, the tech said that is a known bug they are looking at, and that is may be fixed already... Just updated to the latest OS drop (12.1.1) as she recommended, let it run for a couple of days, and found this did NOT fix the issue....

What I have found by my trial and error, is that my issue is tied to the USB-C port. Merely plugging and unplugging anything (headphone or power) will correct the issue and enable the WIFI or Cellular to work again.... This issue still requires APPLE attention to fix, but at least for me, this is now at least manageable. However, I am sure that my USB-C port may wear out faster now...

I had the same problem , confirmed on your solution. Yes it has do with USB-C device , I believe this is a security precaution to shutdown all external communication to the the device if kept connected (GrayKey Cracker !!!) . There is an option in Face -Id to deactivate the USB stuff connecting, if the ipad not been active for 1 hour ..etc. But of course this has to be communicated clearly.
