No.

It is definitely NOT software.

As I stated, there is an incompatibility with almost ALL screen protectors ( glass and many thin plastic film screen protectors ) and the new 2018 iPad Pro models that use the new liquid retina display hardware.

As someone pointed out in one of the many postings on this issue, if Zagg ( the singular leader in all types of mobile screen protectors ) can't figure out/fix this issue, none of the other third party screen protector makers are going to be able to solve this issue, either.

Just purchase a good protective case for your iPad Pro, instead.

There are many higher quality protective cases for these new iPad Pro models on Amazon than Apple’s own cases.

i have the same problem With the same ipad. Apple changes me the ipad for a new one but 2weeks later, the issues appears again,. With the first ipad the screen protector (plastic) increase the problem. Now with the second ipad i have a better experience. i choose a tempt glass and works better than the first one. but the problem is from device. Probably a new ios upgrade resolve the problem. With the Apple Pencil works very fine but its necessary tu use touch gestures and thats the problem, With this issue is very frustrating to use the ipad.

I had this protector:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KG2KPH5

I really liked the texture and feel of the Apple Pencil on the screen - but the cover caused sensitivity problems, with missed keystrokes, etc..

Instead I now have this:

https://paperlike.com/

Not quite as nice as the first one for the pencil, but still much better than the smooth glass. And no screen sensitivity problems.

My reason is that glass acts a dielelectric ( an electrical insulator ).

So, I am thinking there is a electrical ( dielectric ) incompatibility with the new 3rd gen iPad Pro touch screen and screen digitizer layer and the glass screen protector.

Some one has mentioned in another similar posting that this touch screen issue does not exist when using thin, plastic film screen protectors.

Try one of those, instead.

Good Luck!

Same exact problem! 256 gig 11 inch I exchanged it 2 days later for a new one but it is doing the same thing so it has to be a software issue. Think about it flat doesn’t want to respond with screen protector but pick it up and it works perfectly means it still works with the protector on! has to be software hopefully... Apple fix this before unboxed therapy brings this to light on YouTube!

Got your reply.

The problem with the PaperLike product is if you are not using that particular screen protector for drawing or writing on your iPad/iPad Pro and someone purchased an iPad Pro to own and use as a high end media consumption device and other non-Apple Pencil uses, the PaperLike screen protector reduces the clarity of the that expensive iPad Pro screen.

One of the reasons I do not use any screen protectors and especially matte-type/matte-like screen protectors.

I didn't pay an expensive price for an iPad Pro to have my screen clarity and resolution diminished.

I draw and write on my iPad Pro, but use a different third party smart Bluetooth stylus that has a fine point, rubberised, meshed tip that creates some drag on the screen for drawing without ruining the clarity of my iPad Pro’s screen.

I agree with you completely. There is no ideal solution. It diminishes the HD wonderfulness of our screens. But it doesn't diminish touch sensitivity, and of ALL of the options out there this is the best in that regard because it increases functionality and relative to other matte solutions that I tried, this is the best of both worlds, albeit imperfect for watching videos or even editing photos (which is my hobby). That's why I joked with Jan at PaperLike that someone should engineer a light frame of something kind that could swap between glossy and matte. Wishful thinking!

Hi Everyone,

I figured out the problem it was the screen protector, I put a tempered glass one on temporarily until my matte one arrived, which rendered it pretty much usless, unresponsive, I now have a matte one (because I use it primarily for artwork) it is working excellently, but even for general please check if you intend to put one on, I never had a problem before even with tempered glass so just be aware 🙂
