Acer Monitor (H277HU) USB-C -> 2018 Mac Mini

Unable to connect via Thunderbolt 3 on 2018 Mac Mini. Works on MacBook (using the same Acer-provided USB-C cable and also with the Apple- USB-C cable that came with the laptop) but says "no cable connected" for the Mini. Connects to Mac Mini via HDMI 2.0 port just fine. Also connects to Mac Mini using Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor just fine but direct USB-C to USB-C connection does not work. Have latest firmware. Called Acer support (monitor is still under warranty) and when I told them I was connecting to a Mac, their response was "Well there's your problem." 😢

Anyone else have this monitor up and running with their 2018 Mac Mini using only a USB-C cable?

All good in the last 5 minutes actually: everything works fine provided I have one of the USB-C monitors connected via HDMI to the Mac Mini, or I have a 3rd Monitor connected via HDMI. Just USB-C, things do not work.

Yes. My LG UltraFine 4K is connecting via USB C only just fine, but will not turn back on when waking from sleep. Very annoying.

I am in the same situation with an (LG) uc99 USB-c monitor. IT works fine with Macbook pro, but with Mac Mini 2018 not.

Hi! After resetting my LG 34uc99 to factory parameters, now it works with USB-c video input!

Sorry, I didn’t understand, the Mac mini works fine via HDMI cable or only a MacBook pro. I do not know what an inexpensive monitor to choose for the new Mac mini, can you recommend something?

With this monitor, Macbook Pro works fine with USB-C or HDMI. With the new Mac Mini, monitor only works with HDMI.

Got to be worth a try then? Finding a windows PC was the hardest part of it for me. (I also bought a cable that other people confirmed working, just in case my original cable wasn't the right spec).

That’s right. HDMI will always work. USB-C, depends on the resolution. Anything below 4K, expect Thunderbolt to smirk.
