How to correctly set date and time on older MacBook Pro?

Date and time are stuck and am unable to reset.

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to set the proper date and time on your MacBook Pro. To help with your issue, please startup your Mac into safe mode and follow these steps on date and time settings:

These steps require macOS High Sierra. If that excludes your Mac, you can set the time zone manually.

  1. Make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet.
  2. Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click Date & Time.
  3. If you see an alert saying that updated time zone information is available, restart your Mac.
  4. If you don't see the alert, quit System Preferences, wait several minutes, then open Date & Time preferences again. If you see a time zone update message near the bottom of Date & Time preferences, restart your Mac to get the update.

How to set the time zone manually

  • iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure that Set Automatically is turned off, then choose a time zone.
  • Apple Watch: Set the time zone on the iPhone that is paired with your Apple Watch.
  • Apple TV: Go to Settings > General > Time Zone. Make sure that Set Automatically is turned off, then choose a time zone.
  • Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Date & Time. In the Time Zone pane, make sure that ”Set time zone automatically using current location” is deselected, then choose a time zone. You might need to click User uploaded file to unlock these settings before you can make changes.
