as soon as i place video clip in to edit and attempt to split and cut clip it freezes, i never had this problem with imovie before update ? can any one help please. i have deleted imovies and downloaded older version to see what happens

Hi,
Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get to your projects. Now see if iMovie works properly.
If the above doesn't work, you can try booting up in Safe Mode (see Help menue) and, after everything loads, immediately shut down and reboot in normal mode. Sometimes that clears out conflicts that cause glitches to happen.
