IPad double spacing in FaceBook posts

Not to be rude, but i bet the problem comes back, there's no way the fix is that simple. As others above and myself have stated, the problem comes and goes, and affects ALL browsers not just safari. Try going to FB on chrome and i bet the problem persists. It appears to be a coding issue on FB's end and until this changes (and it's not likely) we will continue to have this problem.

I stopped the apostrophe problem. There is a setting to switch automatic punctuation on/off. I switched it off. I think it was in settings, keyboard.

If disabling autocorrection solves the issue, why is this not a problem when you create a post? It only happens when you comment on someone else’s post. And, if this change does work, does this mean that it’s an IOS issue? I’ve been using Safari rather than the app for many years and this is a relatively new issue.

Facebooks “nudge” to get us to use their app instead of browsers where they make less money is sick. My answer, just use FB less and less. Maybe those of you with the developer version of the new iOS can give feedback to Apple, they might care.

Yeah I have reported it a couple of times. It looks like a black hole but certainly worth doing and the more reports they see the more likely it is to be fixed or acknowledged, I guess i was kind of hoping for a workaround in the interim.

New problem: when replying to a post on my iPhone, the keyboard overlays the text box so I can’t see what I’m typing. On other sites the content automatically adjusts upward to accommodate the keyboard. Not Facebook. I’m starting the think they might be evil.

Perhaps others commented, but in search of an #Answer, I jumped to the last page and would like to add that I’m seeing both typed words AND the contraction added to text. Perhaps I’m just missing the option to make a #Choice ...

I appreciate your analysis of this issue. I, too, have submitted multiple “complaints” with no response or attention. The iPad app is so awful, I would rather do without FB than use it on that device. When I get too frustrated, I switch to my laptop.

Well I do understand your point wholly, however absent a true fix this is a short remedy that does work and takes literally 10 seconds to do. So while you hold your breath for two months waiting for Facebook, I’ll hold mine for 10 seconds for my fix. Also your friend Google hasn’t been a true friend always either. Like I say if ya can’t beat em look for a reach around 😅

Hey if your solution worked, that's awesome and i truly hope it stays fixed because i know how **** annoying this is. I'm just saying that others in this thread have posted your same fix and it ended up not working permanently :(

Thanks Rikki - that tip worked for me briefly a while back, but it only lasts for one session - which means if you even close the window or leave a form entry (click on a person's bio for example, or watch a linked video), it reverts back to the same behavior within minutes.

So is this actually being looked into? From my perspective it has been going on for at least 5-6 months and so far I haven't seen any sort of improvement. Yes it seems to be with IPad and Facebook (Most using Chrome) but nothing from anyone official that the issue is being addressed?!

Judge Chucky, the assumption is that this is a Facebook issue, possibly to encourage people to use their mobile app instead of jumping on via a browser. So no, nothing's being done about it. And it happens intermittently with Safari, as well; that's the only browser I use on my iPad.

I believe someone said earlier on this thread that he or she had tried contacting FB and simply hadn't gotten anywhere. Which is why the person assumed that FB didn't care, and possibly had an underlying motive for this glitch.

If someone is using a physical keyboard and is having a similar issue with other apps or websites, then it might be a keyboard issue. However, people here have reported the issue only with Facebook using the iPad in a browser, regardless of input method.

I've been having the issue for months, but I don't use a physical keyboard with my iPad at all. I have an Android phone and don't experience the problem when using Facebook in the phone's browser. I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard for my laptop (both of which could use a good cleaning) and a non-Bluetooth wireless keyboard for my Rapsberry Pi. The issue isn't reproduced in either case.
