What to do when getting an invalid email address message

I’m trying to add the email address for my Apple ID to my iPhone under Settings for icloud access but I get a message that my email address is invalid.

It is in fact a real, working email address which I’ve previously used for my Apple ID/iCloud so what can I do about this invalid email address message?

I have a long standing email account in my iPhone which has been working fine up to now. I finally changed the password after putting it off for too long and am now hitting a brick wall (not literally... yet). I am able to go to the Email Account settings and pull up my details. I show a Password in the Incoming Server section and make my update there. When saving, I get an error message saying - Invalid Email Address: Please enter a valid email address for this account. Again this is an already established account, the email address is valid. It's also NOT my primary Apple Email address. In fact, I changed that one yesterday and had no issues. Any suggestions?

Apple ID is an invalid email address + iPad keeps asking for password for Apple ID that is not the invalid email but my valid email In Settings, my iPhone and iPad both show the same Apple ID. That Apple ID is an old, invalid work email address.I am not reachable at that old address and haven’t been for quite some time. Meanwhile - my iPad keeps asking me to enter the password for my Apple ID - but the Apple ID it is showing in the request is my working email address (a Gmail account). (The passwords for the two accounts - the Apple ID and my Gmail account - are different.)1). I would like to resolve this conflict in Apple IDs.and2). I would like to go ahead and change my Apple ID to my current working email address.What may be causing this conflict? Is there any problem with changing the Apple ID to my Gmail address? Invalid Email when updating existing email password I found the answer to this question [1] but am not able to reply there, hence the new post. Hopefully people will get here eventually. The issue is that changing a setting (eg. password or server address) in the Email Account setting in iOS causes this error to appear: **"Invalid Email addres"** Please enter a valid email address for this account. I see that you're trying to add an email address to your Apple ID. The problem is, you're receiving a message that the email address isn't available, and I'm happy to help.

About your Apple ID email addresses -- If you're using that email address as an additional address or rescue email address, it won't be available.
