USB-C to USB Adapter not working with mouse

I recently bought the new Macbook Air 13 Retina and the USB-C to USB Adapter in order to use my old USB mouse with my new Macbook.

Unfortunately the mouse is not working when plugged in with the adapter; it worked for a few seconds and then it stopped.

I've tried other USB devices such as external hard drives, usb flash drives etc and they work perfectly, the problem is only with my mouse.

What could be the problem? What should I do to solve the issue?

USB Mouse Mouse worked perfectly but without changing anything mouse stopped working as did the Trackpad. I have a Macbook Air w/Big Sur. (11/6.1). Both Thunderbolt outlets have multiple USB C adapters. When I boot, same problem! If I remove the Thunderbolt that contains the mouse and immediately plug it back in, both the mouse and the trackpad work. I reinstalled Big Sur, but still the same. What's the problem?

Mouse issue when I connect my Logitech G502 mouse to my MacBook Air via usb c to usb connect my screen stutters and the cursor lags. This happened after the new Mac OS Big Sur issue. Can anyone please help me fix this?

USB and Bluetooth mice stopped connecting to Mac Wondering if anyone has troubleshooting ideas... I have an old cheese grater Mac that has never had a problem. Yesterday with no symptoms of any problems, my USB and my Bluetooth mouse won't connect. I have tried both mice on another Mac and they work fine. Bluetooth mouse is charged. USB ports work fine with other devices. I have used keyboard shortcuts to get to the mouse preferences and it just says there is no mouse connected.
