How to Reset PRAM and SMC

Hi,

With my new MacBook Pro MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 4 TBT3), macOS Mojave (10.14.1), Rest SMC and Resetting PRAM/NVRAM

I have had the need to reset these and had failed. I was using the directions from my 2011 MacBook Pro. However, I once down loaded these directions with finger on the keyboard directions; they were sent via a AppleCare agent months ago. Unfortunately my New 2017 MacBook Pro went into a tizzy and two hours later it went to reset the language and wanted to back up from Time Machine... Had a stroke and came back to restart and wait for the system to allow me to reboot from OS system...

So, I am asking someone who knows what they are doing and thinking to help me by attaching the correct Apple links for me to print and cover with a plastic cover to protect. For this 2017 MacBook Pro running on Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1 please!

This will be greatly appreciated, I am not an expert, I just like to know that what I am going to do is the correct way and not what had happened the other day!

Sincerely

Neil

Follow these instructions for resetting the PRAM/NVRAM:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Follow these instructions for resetting the SMC:

How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

*Note* For the SMC, follow the instructions under "How to reset the SMC on Mac notebooks", and the sub-section "If the battery is non removable"

Hope all goes well!

Archieny,

Thank you very much! Since I can't print them now, I saved all of that to Word for now! I want to print on good paper and put these instructions in plastic protection sheets! (I did not read any yet, I want to thank you first!) This new MBP never had any issues until I cleaned my new desk and lifted my 5 external hard drives up to wipe the dust. That being done so many times, three days ago it decided not to recognize two of them (Red and Blue). I restarted and figured that would fix it. No, so I shut down and restarted... No, so I used the old instructions for Rest of PRAM and SMC from my older MBP 2011. Two hours of praying and holding my breath for what I don't know, but I also want and used disk utilities I got the green check mark and tried again. Somewhere it brought me to: Language. I will leave the rant there.

Thank you very much!!!

Sincerely

Neil Schwartz
