Table of Contents (number mess)

Hello all,

I am having a slight issue with the table of contents. My numbers seem to be messed up and not in order..

Any work around or way to fix this...?

More information might be needed. Are those pages out of order in the table of contents or are they listed in the right order but with what you think are the wrong page numbers? Did you look at those pages to see what their page numbers are?

First guess is that you have a section break and new page numbers in the second section. It can look like that, but would typically start at a lower number, like 1. So, I wonder if you accidentally inserted a section break instead of a page break a few pages prior to that.

Hi brijpur,

If you suspect that the document is corrupted,

Menu > Edit > Select All.

Menu Edit > Copy.

Open a new blank document from Template Chooser and Menu > Edit > Paste and Match Style.

All the paragraphs will become Body Style (sorry!)

Now change the chapter headings to Header Style (or some other Paragraph Style that is listed as a TOC Style).

Insert a TOC.

Any improvement?

Regards,

Ian.

Thanks for the reply,

I would say they were in the right order and I did tend to delete some contents. The page number seems fine. T have a feeling the TOC numbering is messed up as I did as a section break and deleted it later on. After doing all that the TOC is not automatically updating to the correct numbers. What do you reckon..?
