Logic pro x zoom r24 not working

After installing the zoom r24 as a mackie control surface, I get a white exclamation mark in the top right corner.
In the Inspector window the Output Port says off, and the Input port says illegal input

I've spent countless hours doing every single youtube-fix and forum thread there is, but as there are no to little info on this, I am moments from throwing the entire setup on the dump.

I have figured out though, that if I start logic with input one and taps the zoom's onboard mics they send signal and logic actually records the sound.

First.. are you using High Sierra as per your tagline?

Do you have the latest drivers from here: Zoom R24 Recorder : Interface : Controller : Sampler | Zoom

How about dumping Logic's control surface preferences and starting over.

To delete the control surface preferences, do the following:

  1. Quit Logic Pro X.
  2. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
  3. Enter ~/Library/Preferences, then click Go.
  4. Remove the "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" file from the Preferences folder.

5. Before restarting Unplug the Zoom USB connection

6. Restart your Mac.

Upon restart let it settle, plug the Zoom in... wait, Launch Logic.

Are you getting signal

BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, It's imperative you go to this page and confirm you have the latest drivers and Firmware Update. This can make a world of difference. What Mac operating system are you using? You seem to ignore my questions. This will be my last reply until you answer things in order. It's impossible to troubleshoot without adequate information.

So, with the Zoom unhooked from the computer, go into the the Zoom setup.. make sure the Sync (audio) clock is set to Internal and the sample rate is 44.1 or 48kHz.

The drivers installed and the latest firmware, from the page I posted? Very important.

The preferences file rebuilds itself to defaults the next time Logic starts. So nothing is lost, you can still setup the machie control surface, it sounds like this is a MIDI related issue. You might check the MIDI setup on the R2 and make sure it's correctly setup and enabled.

Thank you for answering!

Did all of the above, without trying to set up the control surface, I did get the same result as before, when tapping the onboard mics signal is recieved by Logic.

I did get a few error messages saying Missing CORE midi or something along those lines when starting Logic, I would think those disappear when the Zoom is properly set up though, since they only appeared after removing said file.

I actually got it up and running, but now there are all kinds off error messages. And you might be correct about the MIDI.

I got a bunch of these errors, tried some of the things on this page:
If you see an audio and MIDI sync alert in Logic Pro X - Apple-kundestøtte
but no dice... The drivers and firmware up to date, from the page you posted, going to check the MIDI setup, will let you know if it works or not!

Thanks for helping! 🙂

No dice.
It keeps disconnecting audio device, it removes and adds midi input/output at will.
It seems like I have no control over what happens when what-so-ever, the sample rates are whatever it feels like, and my patience is at an all time low regarding this issue. Right now I'm just hoping I don't have spent a bunch of money on something that is a really expensive paper weight.

BTW Got a new error message like the one below, stating that the sample rate was 30 405...

No need to be getting angry here. To be honest, I did answer about the firmware and drivers. I did not answer accordingly to the OS, just to clarify, it is High Sierra.

Another thing I have confirmed this weekend is that, in fact, lightning strikes twice at the same place.

In pure frustration I changed the USB cable a third time, and that did the trick.

BTW, my Zoom might be an older version, because there are no such thing as a sync clock on this device.

Thanks for your help anyways, learned something new, this time too!
