Why can I not set a Live Photo as wallpaper on the lock screen on my iPhone XR? It doesn’t have the option in settings. When I select a photo which is live in my photos, it is still when it shows on the lock screen
As CarlosP1228 says, you need to press down on the screen and hold to get the live photo to work. In addition, a "live" photo will only work on the lock screen, not on the home screen! Regards, Ian.

Apple stated that there's no 3D Touch.
It also a fact that live-wallpapers require 3D Touch.
Live Wallpaper iPhone XR wasn't advertised.
I have no idea why all of you did expect that feature.
If you have iPhone 6s or later and you used a Live Photo, you can choose Live. When you press firmly on the screen, the Lock screen wallpaper animates.

I stumbled onto this because i own an XR and was trying to set a live photo as a wallpaper.
It DOES work... there is no 3d touch BUT if you chose a live photo as a locked screen wallpaper it does work.
However, it does take a couple of minutes to work... that's what happened to me... after a couple of minutes i touched my phone on locked screen, and you get the little haptic feedback and voila, moving pics on locked screen :)

As of 2019, you actually can! Go to wallpapers and set your Live Photo as a wallpaper through there. Sadly it only works on the lock screen but I love my live background! Hope this helped :)
It’s really funny because 3D Touch is still on the xr. If you bring the control center down and do the 3D Touch method on the flashlight it still works but I think it’s really stupid that live wallpapers don’t work
Because we paid good money for this phone. I have a 6s, a 7, a 8+ and they all do it. YEARS later they leave it out of one of their brand new phones. Doesn’t make sense. They said they replaced the 3D Touch with haptic touch. So you think they would have made it work. I mean I can hold down my flashlight and get a brightness menu. I can hold anything else down and get some kind of menu. It should be an easy update. If more people keep calling we can get this resolved!!!!😝😝
