Safari bookmarks not syncing

Hi, I have Ipad 9.7 (2017) and IOS 12.1 plus MacBook from 2008 running ElCapitan. I have found no way to sync the Safari bookmarks from Mac to iPad. The route seems to be via iCloud. I have tried all the tricks presented in the web, not working.

Safari Bookmarks not Syncing from iMac to iPad 2 I cannot get Safari bookmarks on my iMac to populate into Safari on my iPad 2. I have gone to settings on the iMac and toggled the Safari button off and back on under iCloud and have done the same on the iPad. However the bookmarks do not populate into iPad 2. Please assist.

Sync Safari bookmarks with (older) iPhone and iPad Hi all, Safari will sync my history between my MacBook, iPhone and iPad, but it won't sync my bookmarks (favorites) and reading list. I am using quite an old iPhone and iPad, so that might be a factor. However, I remember syncing favorites did work in the past... I am using High Sierra 10.13.6 with Safari 10.0.4, an iPhone 4s on iOS 9.3.5 and a 3rd generation iPad on iOS 9.3.5. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

I have a MBP running El Capitan and it no longer syncs Safari bookmarks either. This feature is no longer compatible with El Capitan. Take a look at this.
