How can iTunes freeze my Mac?

It's extremely specific. Whenever I play the video of Forever and For Always by Shania Twain, about 2/3 into the video, the whole video becomes distorted and while the music continues to play, the video is stuck in a frozen distorted state. Soon after, the mouse becomes nonresponsive and then the clock stops ticking. When the song has finished, the computer is essentially hung and I have to power reset.

It's trivial to reproduce this, but I haven't seen it on any other video.

My Mac is running 10.13.6 and my iTunes is 12.8.0.150.

Mac Pro-OTHER, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

It is possible the file is corrupt.

This is likely correct, thanks, but it doesn't explain the behavior on the OS. So what if the file is corrupt? How does it impact the rest of OS? I think it tells us that the OS isn't designed quite the way the way we think. Errors in one program can still somehow spill into the kernel and its damage data structures in RAM.

Well, I can't say how "we think", but what I think is the OS is extremely complex and all it takes is the right code running through the CPU or RAM or the GPU etc to cause a problem.

I don't know with any certainty what happened.

Just to add, it could also be a combination of apps installed that were affected.
