My experience with Brightstar (Apple GiveBack)
My experience with Brightstar (Apple GiveBack) was quite negative and, yes, upsetting. Further to a few of the comments in a recent thread (Brightstar Apple GiveBack) I sent two (2) old yet pristine-condition iPads to Brightstar. Brightstar rejected and returned one of them.
When I opened the box I couldn't believe how much damage had been inflicted to the iPad. It obviously had been dropped on its corner onto a hard surface. The bent case and pattern of the screen cracks clearly point to a very localized impact. Because the Brightstar packaging actually appears to be well-designed, I cannot imagine how such damage could have been inflicted while the iPad was sealed in the box. Hence I think it is VERY unlikely that UPS is the culprit, and that the damage was inflicted after it was received and unpacked by Brightstar. Which is what makes me so upset, because I think the company should be forthright and admit that the damage occurred on their end, rather than blame the customer.
To be clear, the remittance I was expecting was very small ($25) and I am NOT pursuing the matter with Brightstar - I don't expect to be easily accommodated and a runaround is not worth my time. I hope this tends to suggest that I am not being dishonest in recounting experience. My sole purpose for posting this is to better inform people considering using this program. I recognize my story is anecdotal (though, see some other stories in the link I provided).
