Playing Second Life on new MacBook

I was wondering if anyone can play Second Life on their macbook. I just got the new Nov 07 macbook with 2gb of ram. I installed Second Life and am able to get to Orientation Island, but after less than a minute it freezes up. This happens everytime. I know this macbook isn't meant for games, but I've heard of other people with the older video cards that are able to play this game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Disco,
Were you able to find a fix? I have your exact same configuration and experience the same problem, of course. I tried to run "OpenGL Profiler.app" and got this scary warning message about how my settings would be changed if I went forward. I went forward and was unable to find anything remotely like Apple renderer or how to change your drive. Any hint would be greatly welcome. Thanks!

Here is an interesting turn of events that leads me to further believe it is a problem with OpenGL in 10.5.

On my iMac Core2Duo with ATI x1600 @ 128mb, I get these types of graphical anomalies when ever I exit a game (Second Life, WoW, Eve)

Same thing happens on my MacBook, only it crashes just about 10 seconds into anything.
Since I have AppleCare, I'll call this one in tomorrow...

Hi all,
I just did a bit of searching around regarding this problem and came across this:

http://softwareblogs.intel.com/2007/11/29/there-is-a-hack-for-second-life-and-th e-intel-965-chipset/

I have done the same edit to the xml file detailed above in the Mac OS Viewer and it WORKED.
I don't know if there are any side effects from doing this but it's a lot easier than downloading the OpenGL Profiler and all that jazz.

The file so you know is in the folder:

~/Library/Application Support/Secondlife/user_settings/settings.xml

Of course credit to the person who poster this fix on the intel site. I hope it works for you and there aren't any issues with it.
