I now seem to be having the same issue..."the network connection was reset" is all I am getting. I tried to call Apple Care and it's was too late...their closed.
I did notice that when I clicked on my account in the upper right side of iTunes...I was able to see all the "Stores" and then when I clicked "App Store" it worked. Also, clicking on "Home" or the little house in the upper left also seems to be a work around.
My husband and I are getting the "network connection reset" error -3253 on our Macs (desktop and laptop) since we installed 9.2. Interestingly though, I can download music and apps through my 3G ipod Touch. Help us Apple, my consumer dollars are waiting on you.
Also seeing this issue since 7/9 PM. Seems erratic and like others, all other aspects of connectivity working fine. Was using 10.6.4/9.2 prior to yesterday without issue, so maybe this is an iTunes Store issue, more than a local user issue.
The only thing that has changed for me is I registered for the MobileMe calendar beta the day before, so I wonder if this is somehow affecting my Apple services.
Started Thursday night when I tried to update some apps on my Mac mini. I got the same error messages. Also get the connection lost message when checking to see if the if the software is up to date.
Same with me. Using iMac trying to purchase new iPhone apps and download updates. Last night the error came up 100% of the time. This morning I can get about 25% of the attempt to work, 75% give me the network reset error. Wish they would hurry up with the fix. You would think they're losing a lot of revenue while we can't buy and download.
Why have you listed this post as solved? Did you find a fix for the problem? I am getting The "network connection was rest" whenever I plug my iphone into my macbook pro and it launches itunes. Also when trying to download apps.
Same problem since I downloaded 9.2 and it's getting worse. Before I was able to connect to the iTunes Store and download after a few attempts. Now I get the error message- Network connection was reset - as soon as I click on the iTunes Store icon.
I thought it might've been some hiccup with downloading and my wireless network. Thought I had worked around it by refreshing the connection with a new browser page - but nope. Not consistently anyhoo.
I had the same issue. Today I couldn't even open the iTunes store. I set up a support call and no sooner had I hit the button than the phone rang. After spending half an hour troubleshooting which included resetting Safari, I think we hit upon a solution. The tech had me move the iTunes preferences file to the desktop. When I reopened iTunes it recreated the file and everything seems to work fine now. The file is located at: user/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist. Don't delete it until you're sure the new one works. You'll have to walk through your iTunes preferences and reset a few things to the way they were before, but it's relatively painless. Good luck.
I've been having the same problem. Seems it got worse with iTunes 9.2 (61). Now I'm seeing it with clicking on links to artists, downloads and app downloads.
Never mind. I thought it was working because it's responding faster and I'm able to explore the different parts of the store (apps, music, podcasts, etc.) which I couldn't do this morning, but I still can't download app updates. Back to the drawing board.
Not sure if this thread is still alive- it's marked "solved" but clearly isn't. We're getting the "network connection reset" error as well- on our Macbook connected wirelessly to a AEBS. Internet works great otherwise- it's an iTunes issue. Any suggestions anyone?
Same Thing Happened to me this past week. I too read this post and not sure why it said "solved".
*Luckily...I found a solution!* I hope it works for you too :
Ok internet was working fine on my machine, but when i went to the itunes store (itunes ver 9.2) I got the following error - *"we could not complete your itunes store request. the network connection was reset"*.
So after trying several things i decided to sign out of the itunes store. (top right - click on your name and sign out). Immidiately the itunes store loaded and the message did not come up again.
I suspect that maybe this happened because i changed my MobileMe password recently. The itunes store keeps your password and probably logs you in every time. Since the password saved was not good anymore, it kept rejecting the connection.
*Note : If you do not have a Mobileme account, try signing out and re-entering your AppleID password. Worked for me. Probably some itunes permission thing...*
