2018 MacBook Pro double spacing and double letteers!

I have had my 13" 2018 MacBook Pro for one month and all of the sudden it started to insert double spaces intermittently when I press thee spacebar while typing anything in any app. It will also type a letter twice every third or 4tth word but the spacebar issue is almost every single space. You will see throughout this that there are lots of double spaces between words. What is happening here and how do I fix this? My 2011 15" MacBook Pro never did anything like this and for thee first week neither did this one? It is very upsetting. Any advice or fixes?

Thanks

Mac Pro

I suspect yo have already tried adjust Preferences in

>System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard> delay & repeat rates and made changes here to no avail

Continuing with your due dilgigence you can

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

More than likely I suspect it is a faulty Keyboard and will need to take it n for a warranty repair.

Hello Shers_74,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that you've been experiencing issues with double spacing and letters repeating on your MacBook Pro. I know any issues on a new device can be very concerning. I'm happy to help.

I recommend testing this issue while in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your Mac to run certain checks, remove caches, and prevent login items from automatically launching. This can isolate possible third party issues. Use the steps and information in the link below for assistance with safe mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

If the issue persists, test in another user account. This will help determine if the issue is user specific or system wide.

Let us know the results. Please include any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a wonderful day!

Thank you very much.....I appreciate this community a lot and how quickly people reach out to help. Another user gave me a simple solution that I did not know existed so I think that may have solved my issue. Adjusting the repeat rates on my keyboard. I know it is so simple but I just didn't know that existed. That said, I slowed it down some and as I type this I am seeing that the letters are not repeating anymore but there is minor double spacing. I will have to use for a few days and see if this solves it but nice to know that if it does not work I can come back to your response and try that. Thank you again very much!

Thank you so so much for answering my question and no I did not try this....

>System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard> delay & repeat rates

I had no idea that was something I could do and in fact I think that it may have helped my issue. I will keep my fingers crossed in hopes that for once in life it is the simple solution that wins!!!

Now as I type this I do notice that although the letters are not repeating, it is still double spacing...I guess I will have to back it off a little more and use it for a couple days to see if the issue persists.

Here's hoping it's ok!

Well sadly after a little bit of typing this evening, the easy solution did not work at all! Oh well.... 😔 I will have to get my brand new one week old MacBook Pro in for repair...I have to say that makes me nervous considering how much we pay for these and that it was literally just taken out of the box a week ago..

Thanks so much for your help!!

Oh well.... 😔 I will have to get my brand new one week old MacBook Pro in for repair...I have to say that makes me nervous considering how much we pay for these machines and that it was literally just taken out of the box a week ago..

Prior to making the repair appointment I am going to do your suggestion and see if that changes things for me. I will let you know how it worked after I do it tomorrow.

Thanks so much for your help!!

Thank you all for your help with this issue that I am having especially after only owning my MacBook Pro for 2 weeks and having issues with it right out of the box. I followed everything that you advised and sadly nothing has helped with this issue. Upon more research it is clear that this is an issue for many people and in knowing that, a very frustrating one given the price we pay for top of the line products that can do so much but yet cannot even get the keyboard right?? Especially knowing that so many people are having the same issue since 2016...yet it is still happening. Anyway...I know I am just venting now...mostly because I now have to take my computer in for repair and be without it....this is a hard thing to do given that my work life depends on it. Hopefully it is a quick fix...fingers crossed! Thank you all again for your assist....very much appreciated!!
