How to mute in-app ads when listening to music or podcasts

When playing certain games, I will listen to a podcast or music while the game is muted, but occasionally an ad will pop up or is required to watch for a certain gain and no matter if the phone is manually muted, DND is on or what I'm listening to, the app will play sounds. Usually the sounds are decibels louder than what I was originally listening to and because it's an in-app noise, my phone doesn't pause playback while the app deafens me.

Please tell me there is a fix for this or at least one in the works?!
