I recently bought a new Apple TV (32GB, 4th generation). Everything plays find except for some old .mp4 files of family videos we had digitized about 20 years ago. My old Apple TV (2nd generation) plays the files with no issues. Any idea what is going on?

Not a problem, I know some things can seem complicated. If you are using a Mac then you can open them up in quicktime and then go to Window - show movie inspector.
In terms of converters Handbrake is what I usually recommend, it even has a preset for Apple TV.

I'm not real smart about this issue. All I know is the files have a .mp4 format extension. Is there some way to determine if this .mp4 format meet the specifics of the formate you provided in your response?
