My MBA has a broken screen, and I’ve wiped the hard drive, I’m try to connect to an external monitor BUT I’m at the start of the setup assistant. Com+F1 won’t work.


Any help!

This seems to be working. I needed a corded keyboard AND mouse plus some patient.

Just incase others want to know it is a mid 2011 MacBook Air with a broken display.

The connections needed are.

HDMI cable to Thunderbolt port, corded mouse and corded keyboard. Any one of these missing it won’t work.


When I first closed the screen on the MBA it took about a minute maybe 2 to change from the MacBook broken display to the old Panasonic Plasma the MBA was plugged into.


Hopefully when I start the MBA up again it will remember that the display mirroring is checked.
