I am unable to pass Dolby Vision through my receiver after this last update. Everything worked before the update and my other equipment, Oppo 203 and Firestick 4K, passes Dolby Vision.
Anybody else having this issue?

There’s V2.1 now and you should make sure to use an RF-shielded HDMI cable to avoid any interference and don’t get one that’s too long either, the longer the cable run is, the likelier it is that the wiring itself will act as a low-grade antenna, picking up RF frequencies.
Not to say any of this will resolve your problems.
Not saying Apple tv didn’t change things. The updates admittedly mess with stuff and it’s a case of figuring out a solution.

There was a firmware update January 16 for TX-NR787 Open Source Software Download.
Did you install it? You said it’s not been updated. It’s possible they could soon issue another to fix Apple’s recent update

The thing that really tells me this is an issue with the Apple TV is that my other device outputs Dolby Vision without issue and hooking the Apple TV up through that hdmi cable still has the same issue. It’s defeating going through all the normal troubleshooting and still coming up empty. A bit out of my control at this point unfortunately.
Once again I agree with you. No amount of troubleshooting will fix this issue. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of Apple and or Onkyo to issue a fix. Until then I'll have to use other equipment in my setup to watch Dolby Vision. :(
I am getting the same problem with Dolby Vision (and high speed cables), with no Dolby Atmos coming out of the speakers as well. When the audio is set to Dolby Digital 5.1, I did get sound. Also when I plugged the ATV4K to the TV, I did see Dolby Vision in the video output settings.
Same... I updated to 12.2.1 and it did not fix my issue. I have it defaulted to 4K SDR, so it switches to Dolby Vision. However, when it switches back to 4K SDR it goes to a black screen and I can hear the audio. I have to switch inputs and then back to AppleTV to fix. Summary: Switching from SDR --> HDR/HDR10 --> SDR = no issues. Switching from SDR --> Dolby Vision --> SDR = black screen w/audio. Did not happen until AppleTV updated to 12.2.
Onkyo released an update this morning to the majority of the Receiver line, but didn't change the issue at hand. I've also talked to Roku support and they are researching the issue finally as it certainly it appears it's a handshake issue between either Apple & TCL.

Interesting, except the TCL takes Dolby Vision when Apple TV 4K is hooked directly to the TV. The faulty component in this chain is the Onkyo receiver.
All of my cables are Certified 18Gbps cables. I have switched the cables and all other Dolby Vision equipped devices work with this cable. Plus it worked right up to when the ATV4K was updated. This leads me to believe the problem is unrelated to cables.

same thing just happened to me. Apple TV 4K with an Onkyo NR-TX676.
Dolby Vision worked without issue for months and suddenly this week it's not even available in the video options.
Swapped HDMI cables with my UHD Bluray player where Dolby Vision is working without issue and still nothing.
Reset the Apple TV, rebooted all my devices. No luck.
Hello, are you aware of what was changed in the latest ATV4K update that has resulted in my Onkyo receiver not being able to pass Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision has been working prior to this update. Additionaly all other capable equipment still passes Dolby Vision properly.
Issues popped up for a number of users immediately following an update. Nothing has changed with my setup in months. The onkyo hasn’t been updated in months because it has been disconnected from my WiFi. This is an Apple TV 4k issue
