Recently Safari has stared to auto login. I select the stored username and password and it then tries to login. This is fine with the exception that I have a Captcha and it does not let me answer that so I just get a fail Captcha error. I have searched everywhere on how to turn this off. I want it to auto fill, but I don't want it to submit automatically.
This is a new feature introduced in the latest update.

As a test "Disable "Remember Me" under user ID and Password fields.
Options will be available.
Now click inside boxes. A blue highlighted pop-up will appear below the box showing the password.
Click it enter the password.
Click the arrow button to login.
Unless you click, Auto login will not take place.
Yes ... this is a REAL PAIN!
I wish Apple would stop adding features that they imagine people will like. And if they do, then at least give me an option to TURN IT OFF!
I'm quitting Safari. This new "feature" totally ruined usability of safari for me.
Well, I updated my OS to Mojave and it fixed every password issue I was having, the auto log in and Chrome restored all stored passwords. Go figure.
I agree. It really sucks on sites that have a captcha sign in. Should be able to turn off the auto login.
Are you using the latest OS? It seems they fixed this, I'm having no more issues.
OS X10.14.5, Safari 12.1.1. My computer says I'm using the lates versions of everything.
Interesting, I'm using Safari 12.01 and OS 10.14.1, bizarre!
Have you considered updating to the newest Mojave version and Safari version?
To All who have had this problem with Safari Auto Login issue. Update for Safari 13 today. Apple has finally removed this feature Auto Login. Problem solved.
I don't understand why Apple has removed this function instead of creating a toggle for on/off. I used it frequently!
