AirPods battery pop up not showing on iphone

Hi, when I used to open my AirPod case, the little pop up with the earpiece and case battery life would come up. I have realized this is now not happening on my iPhone (it does on my iPad). Additionally, when I set up the new iPad and it gives the option to set it up by playing an existing device close by, by iPhone never came up as an option. Others than this, I am not having any Bluetooth issues with my iPhone. I recently reset network setting on the iPhone to see if that would help, but no luck. Any thoughts? Thanks!
