My HomePod keeps asking me for Apple ID password

Almost daily, my HomePod keeps asking me to sign into my Apple ID account. I've tried changing my Apple ID password and resetting the HomePod. I have 2 home pods and it happens on both.

You might also try signing out of your Apple ID and back in on the iOS device you set it up with

Go to Settings > [your name] > View Apple ID - sign out, then sign back in

if you're using Apple Music:

Turn on iCloud Music Library with Apple Music

yes at one point just clicking the icon got rid if it, but it was only temporary. A simple unplugging also worked at one point as well.

No , I do not have separate Apple ID login details for iCloud and iTunes, it’s recommended those be the same ID. I have xxxx.me.com and xxxx.icloud .com though, but either of those work , but I use me.com across all my devices since that one seems to be my default.

I’m going around now signing out of my devices and signing back in. Making sure keychain is on etc.

So in an effort to give it one last shot, I did the following:

1 - Reset both HomePods back to factory defaults by removing them from my Home.app. (This is how: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208244)

2 - Set up one HomePod and then set the second one up.

3 - While setting the second one up it asked me if I wanted to create a stereo pair. I did, so I selected that.

4 - I went back to the Home.app to see which speaker is L and which is R. I tap on the icon for each and nothing happens.

5 - So I tap on the top of one speaker, and it starts to play. The other one does not.

6 - I "Hey, Siri" and the other speaker starts playing a different song at a different volume.

7 - Both speakers show as a stereo pair in the Home.app.

Both HomePods were updated to 12.3.

This is absolutely pathetic.

No one believes me at first in how extreme you have to be in order to get this working again. Something is corrupted from a previous update in iOS.

I added 2 new HomePods last night (now 4 stereo pair) to the house and they configured just fine after updating from 11.2.5.

I dont think apple Apple is selling through these as well as they want, but more functionality would definitely move them and if cited proper software!
