My HomePod keeps asking me for Apple ID password

Almost daily, my HomePod keeps asking me to sign into my Apple ID account. I've tried changing my Apple ID password and resetting the HomePod. I have 2 home pods and it happens on both.

You might also try signing out of your Apple ID and back in on the iOS device you set it up with

Go to Settings > [your name] > View Apple ID - sign out, then sign back in

if you're using Apple Music:

Turn on iCloud Music Library with Apple Music

You were right. I deleted my home, rebooted the phone, reset the HomePods, and then added them as the first devices. It works now (for how long, let's see).

I also want to throw out some HUGE kudos to Phillips and the Hue app. I set up 30 lights in the house with custom rooms created. I was able to push that entire configuration onto the Home.app. Saved me literally about an hour's worth of work. I would have had to recreate all of the rooms and rename every single light and add them to the rooms. I was dreading that, but the Phillips Hue app saved my sanity. If you want to replace your home lights with LEDs that you can control with your Home.app and also automate, get the Phillips Hue lights. Not only are the great lights, their app is really good.

Thx, BarrettF77, for figuring this out.

I had this problem for a long time with the 5 HomePods I have, with this issue coming up all the time. But noticed that over the last week or so there seems to be no issue like this with any of them. Checked and they are all on 12.3 firmware so maybe that update is what is making them work as they should, at least so far. Make sure you have the automatic update on for all the HomePods or make sure you update them manually quickly. So far so good. Hope it continues that way.

Yep, exactly what happened to me and glad to see Apple still hasn't fixed that yet. The ONLY way to fix it is by deleting your ENTIRE home including the home itself and setting up a new HOME in the home app. This is the part that creates a lot of confusion.

I think there is something that causes a corruption in the OS and makes that happen. Not entirely sure what but I've made mention of it to them many times. Their engineers are worthless in they can't fix it. So I found a fix on my own.

I have been experiencing this same issue with my HomePod. I ask Siri to play a song and the response is "I'm having trouble accessing your account (or something like that), please check your Home app." In the Home app I try to Sign In, but touching the Sign In does nothing to launch a password field.

Here is what I have found does work. I play a song on my iPhone and send it to play (stream) on my HomePod. The iPhone music song starts playing on my HomePod. Now press your iPhone's button to put it to sleep. Then ask HomePod Siri to play a different song, and it will, at that point, recognize my verbal request and play the song I just requested. This will keep me logged in and verbally able to request songs on the HomePod, the remainder of the day.

Some days my HomePod works fine, but when it tells me it's having trouble logging into my account, that is when I initiate the method outlined above.

I'm dealing with the same thing... but to save you a bit of time, for the moment... you don't need to turn the phone off. While the [Sign In] doesn't work, if you scroll down a bit, you'll see the Apple ID is still "associated" with the home pod. Just log out (I know, doesn't make sense since it's not actually logged in... but try it, it log out) and then you can log right back in.

This happens about once a week on my HomePod, as does for a friend of mine as well. It's suuuuper annoying! I don't believe there's a 'fix' for this at the moment, other than having to just sign back into your Apple ID in the Home app. Sometimes you can't even sign in on the Home app, as the 'sign in' option is unresponsive. In this instance, i've found turning your iPhone on and off again allows to log in again. 🙄

Oh ok, this issue may be a connection problem. Try rebooting the wifi modem by unplugging and reset network settings on iPhone as well. These tasks need to be done once in awhile to clear things and reset and the HomePods may improve on the other issues going on.

Still not sure why you guys cant stay signed in though .... I've not ever seen that sign in thing at the top, because I stay signed in! I have all the other issues.
