Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Standard MAC Upgrade and OS 10.12.6

I need to buy InDesign; I don't currently have it , or CS on my computer. If I buy the Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Standard MAC Upgrade will it be compatible? The seller thought I might need a java runtime update to allow it. Is this correct, and what does that actually mean? Thank you.

I got CS4 installed and working on Sierra 10.12.6. The techniques I used might be useful for CS5. See my posts 12, 13, and 22 here:

If you follow the instructions you will see that Java Runtime is not necessary (and is probably insecure).

The last link in post 22 is install instructions from Adobe:

I need help. I'm needing InDesign to work on important community issues, and must get this sorted. I have been on the phone with Apple for hours today - they were helpful. I now have: Sierra on the hard drive (as before) and Mavericks as an alternative boot on an external hard drive. InDesign Original won't work for either. On Sierra, it says it no longer supports the Classic environment. On Mavericks it says the disc is damaged or incomplete, which I'm pretty sure it isn't.

This is painful.
