On my Macbook Pro, it used to be that when I used my mouse to scroll, initially it would scroll very little. If you scrolled faster, then you would scroll a lot more, just like the touchbad. Now, however, the mouse scroll speed appears to be fixed and not accelerate at all.
I used, the following command, which shows 5:
defaults read .GlobalPreferences com.apple.scrollwheel.scaling
How can I get it back to default?

Doesn't work either. And whenever I adjust the scrolling speed there and exit the menu, if I go back to the menu, it is back at the old speed (the slider is at the old spot)...
Check to see if the same problem also occurs in a new user account.
