Logic Pro X Instrument slot suddenly empty (last seen yesterday!)

I have a very strange problem where all built in instruments EXS, ES2, Ultrabeat etc etc etc are missing from my instrument slot, I am NOT LOOKING IN THE WRONG SLOT - I hope my back-story will help fill you in on my problem, I will also try to attach screenshots.

I have just lost 3 days trying to download additional/legacy content for a fresh install of Logic Pro X. After MUCH forum trawling, (and 1 reinstall of logic!) I concluded that part of the reason was that the apple servers were faulty on saturday/sunday, Logic blamed my internet connection but i went through ALL of that (while browsing for answers :P) Anyway, it finally worked last night downloading individually from links on THIS post

(THANK YOU mjtripper!!!!)

I installed the content and was able to see the legacy instruments/sounds i was after.

Nothing prepared me for this though..... after finally installing the additional content, i could see the legacy instruments and loops I had been looking for, but NOT the original ones anymore. aaaarrrrgggghhh!!!!!!

I know how to use Logic, and i can assure you that i am NOT looking in the wrong slot! all other references to this problem seem to be created by people looking for ultrabeat in the effects plugin slot.

I know that Ultrabeat for instance cannot be missing, as it is part of logic. I can get it to appear temporarily by choosing a drum kit, and expanding the tracks within the instrument - each one of these contains an instrument slot with Ultrabeat and it works.

I have installed and uninstalled garagband .

I have checked "manage sound library", Downloaded "all available content", Legacy + additional, and even "reinstalled the sound library".

When I go to /Private/var/folders there are no "large" files to speak of.

During the process I have used APPCLEANER to sniff out all the logic files, which i have since read is maybe not a good idea , I also did some hefty trash emptying.

Before you ask I have no backups. :(

I am prepared to fresh install my MBP anyway as it's been a few years, but would like to complete one project this week, and potentially further before opening that box!

Beyond the above i can't think of much more information that may be useful. Any help/advice much appreciated and questions welcomed!

Many thanks, D

Thanks For the reply WD. Yes i know it's stupid to follow old instructions, but as i explained I was at the end of my tether! I will not use appcleaner from now on, I will simply trawl the forums for the location of all the associated files for every program i need to delete! (unless I find is a simpler, but safe way).

before you replied I did a reinstall of the library, which took all night but seemed to do the trick. I can now see all of my instruments. FWIW ultrabeat appears in my plugin manager fine, with a "-" in compatibility and a tick in "use", but I didn't check while it was missing from the slot.
