Frequent BSOD using Bootcamp on bcmpciedhd63.sys

Hello,

I just bought a Macbook Pro 15" 2018 and installed Windows 10 using Bootcamp. My laptop crashes every few minutes on module bcmpciedhd63.sys. It also crashes on the Apple Audio driver occasionally, Please HELP!

I had same trouble (0x0000082d blue screen), and probably found solution.

Open "Device Manager" -> "Network Adapter" -> "Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter" -> Open "Property" -> "Driver" tab -> Click "Roll back driver" -> Reboot

Probably, Windows Update Broadcom driver is not suitable for Macbook bootcamp.

A few more details:

  • I just bought this laptop a few days back and I was excited how easy it was to install Windows 10 using bootcamp as the whole process was completely seamless when compared to how it was before!
  • It crashed for the first time as Bootcamp was getting ready to install the drivers after the Windows OS was installed.
  • I restarted the laptop and successfully installed the Bootcamp drivers.
  • Ever since my laptop would crash nearly every 10 minutes. Every so often it would work just fine for about an hour or so.
  • I'm extremely happy with how well Windows 10 works on this latest Macbook Pro except it keeps crashing! :(
  • I disabled windows from updating device drivers using a system setting but it hasn't helped so far.
  • I'm just about to return this laptop but I wanted to see if someone could help as I couldn't find any previously reported issues similar to mine :(

No, I didn't have any issues with macOS.

However, following your questions:

  1. I downloaded BC drivers using Brigadier (as there isn't any other way that I know of to download BC drivers manually -- this is because a) BC drivers get deleted after they are installed b) Bootcamp on macOS wants to restore the mac partition by deleting my Windows 10 installation to restart the process!)
  2. Updated windows settings to not install any 3rd party drivers
  3. I reinstalled the BC drivers, and rebooted!

So far my Windows 10 has been up without any crashes! My fingers crossed - will update after I've had a chance to test this out for some time.

Thanks so much for your help! Let's hope this resolves it!!

I see, I'll take a look at the macOS resource once my workday is done.

I also have the same info in the Bootcamp driver archive I downloaded.

Interestingly, Device Manager reports the driver details as follows:

Name: Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter

Date: 12/13/2018

Version: 100.10.459.0

I have now managed to install the drivers from the Bootcamp driver archive. Hopefully this resolves things.

I don't experience any audio issues. My driver details are:

Provider: Microsoft

Date: 3/18/2019

Version: 10.0.18362.1

Clicking "Driver Details" displays the message "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device."

I recognize "18362" as the build number of a recent Windows Insider Preview build. So this driver will probably make it out to the general public in May. (You can try enrolling yourself in the Slow Ring to get the May update now - not sure if it's too late in their testing cycle though.)

Haven't really researched this issue but a thought might be to disable the built-in devices for now and try a cheap dongle https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSC/dp/B071HJ98Q6?sa-no-redirect=1&pldnSite=1. However, it's possible the dongle uses the same driver and triggers the same crashes.

I did read some about T2 and watched a YouTube video about disabling T2!

I noticed that the DCOM errors appear to be gone - looking at the Event Viewer, I don't see any more DCOM errors with Event Id 10016. Nearly every crash (I say nearly because I haven't reviewed every failure) was preceded by a DCOM launch task failure. I'm not sure if it's because I disabled T2 or some mysterious Windows update resolved it - either way I'm happy!!

I originally tried Parallels and wasn't impressed with the performance even though it's a very clean product. Therefore, I didn't think that Parallels would have worked in terms of performance as well as their licensing scheme (for a small business) isn't affordable. I haven't tried VMware but I'm familiar with it so I'm guessing it would be similarly affected from a performance perspective.

I use Windows 10 for my business and have come to like MacBook Pro for quality hardware (can't think of another laptop that is as good). However, the combination of Windows 10 and MacBook Pro has been a nightmare!

Having said this, I think I found the root cause of the driver related issues I was facing (WiFi, Trackpad, Audio, etc.). I will post a summary shortly after my testing is through...
