Safari

I have an older MacBook (Nov 2009). I saw an update for Safari and tried to download. I have Apple 10.11.6. UNknowingly, the Safari update could not be procesed, and now, when I try to open it , I am told that Safari can only work with OS 10.13 or later. I cannot undo the attempt to upgrade, and now I have no Safari to utilize. (Currently using Firefox :( ) . Please assist me in getting my Safari back. Thank you

Try reinstalling the OS. Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.
