iBridge FaceTime HD | 4: 3 format instead of 16: 9 in OBS Studio and other apps

I have a problem because the webcam built into iMac Pro does not behave as it should. Instead of showing the normal picture format in 16: 9 aspect ratio, it shows 4: 3.

I've already installed the Boot Camp driver update, but it does not do anything, because the camera drivers are from 2006.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

iMac Pro, macOS 10.14

This has

               <ProductManufacturer>Apple Inc.</ProductManufacturer>

                <ProductVersion>6.1.7483</ProductVersion>

                <ProductCode>{FCFFE6B6-BAE8-490E-88D0-097A9DA1C43D}</ProductCode>

which seems to be the latest. It has

 <Name>FaceTime HD Camera
                                <InfName>AppleCamera64.inf</InfName>
                                <Class>Image</Class>
                                <ClassGUID>{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}</ClassGUID>
                                <CatalogFile>AppleCamera64.cat</CatalogFile>
                                <Provider>"Apple Inc."</Provider>
                                <DriverVer>09/30/2016,6.1.6500.0</DriverVer>
                                <ServiceBinary>AppleCamera.sys</ServiceBinary>
                                <HardwareID></HardwareID>
                                <isX64>yes</isX64>
                        </Name>

You should have the 2016 driver, not the 2006 driver. You should have a .exe file in the Apple Drivers folder on the USB.

This requires a bit of work. You should first create a Windows System Restore point.

You can uninstall the 2006 driver, delete the device, remove the 2006 driver from the DrvStore using pnputil.exe, and then manually install the 2016 driver. If you reboot in the middle, the 2006 driver will come back. The current driver is a generic USB camera driver.

  • Create a Windows System Restore point.
  • In Windows Device Manager, right-click on the FaceTime Camera, click Uninstall and Delete the device.
  • Run pnputil.exe and remove the Microsoft driver from DrvStore
  • Do not Reboot
  • Install the FaceTime driver from the BC package manually and verify in Windows Device Manager
  • Disable any Windows updates to the FaceTime Camera driver using https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2500967/how-to-stop-windows-7-automatically-installing-drivers . You will need the PID/VID of the Camera. This is valid for W8.1/W10.
  • Test and verify
  • Reboot, and test and verify

The drivers you have issues with are all related to USB. BC drivers would be installed, if the driver’s INF file had a match for the PID/VID in the package. Any drivers that are not provided by Apple are supposed to come from Windows - over the internet or as part of the Windows Installer.

Also, based on the testing so far, your Camera issue is related to third-party software interaction with the Camera, because the Microsoft Camera application works properly.

You may want to ask the owners of the third-party apps to check if their clients may have an issue.

If you bring up the Microsoft Camera App, you should see similar settings to what I have posted. Your settings look correct. It does support 16:9 @30fps. My 2014 iMac is older and 720p@30fps. Your camera should automatically support 16:9. You may be running into problems for other apps.

Check with Camera App. The window aspect is 16:9 when the Camera app is running.
