Annoying 'Congratulations you have won' java pop up in iOS

I am getting this all the time now at theguardian.com website.

None of the steps in this thread stops it (apart from disabling java, which I would rather not do).

I have written to theguardian.com's help desk and flagged this as an issue.

Is there anything apple.com can do?

Pop up screens On an iPad Pro, when searching or choosing an option in a program, a full screen pops up, with an explanation related to the next screen. The problem is that all (I think) pop ups have been blocked in Settings. There seems to be no way to move on to the next screen. Can anyone help?
