Apple states that only Apple makes certified USB-C to Lightning cables but I am seeing a number of manufactures who advertise Mfi certified cables. UGreen, Anker, etc I don't know about UGreen but Anker seems pretty trustworthy.

Are those vendors licensed or is the Apple statement just not updated?

Anker’s USB-C to Lightning cable is new.
It does say “Apple MFi Certified” so I would trust that statement.
The interesting thing is it costs US$3 more than the comparable Apple product!

It’s quite common for Apple not to list every legitimate product that supports an Apple device on their website. For example, I use an Apple Watch band that falls into this class.
So I suspect the article you referenced in your original post is simply not updated.

Anker makes some really sturdy cables so I don't usually mind paying a few dollars more.
