I'm sure there are some people who are. I'm not. Use your iPhone for 72 hours then check Settings > Battery and see what processes/apps are using most of your battery. And check your battery health while you are there.

A reply from Apple directly. First of all it’s not about my expectations on how the battery should behave. It’s about how the specifications say it should be. Everything I’ve done and went through is just again and again mentioned to follow and monitor there’s nothing new said by them. As I’ve said before on this discussion, many reigns and countries don’t have Apple stores or genius bars at all. And authorized salesman are clueless and confused when we present them with such issues. And for all of you with older devices, do not worry this has nothing to do with making just those devices useless since mine is a model which came out literally less than an year ago. I specially choose XR because of the battery life. Now I’m dreadfully watching the battery drop at doing nothing at all. And it’s been over a month now still with no fix or a proper update. Just finished my university degree on may and if I were to attend lectures the battery will be dead before I’d even make it back home. Highly disappointed and will never ever purchase an Apple product again.

looks like this issue is affecting all apple devices, even the new ones. I gave up on Apple solving the issue for my 6th gen iPod touch. I bought a $5.00 power bank from Five Below and a 6 inch lightning cable from Amazon. Rubber band them together and I’m back in business. Very sad situation but at least I have my podcasts again while I mow the lawn.

Firstly. I recently (May this year) had the battery replaced under the deal Apple had for a discount battery replacement. This was done at the Genius Bar. The phone 'almost immediately', ie. I cannot remember it being over 88% capacity, said the maximum capacity was 88% (my take: it is almost new).

Now the battery drain is really bad. Here's what the phone is telling me. As you can see, the battery charge plummets and I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary - maybe making a call etc, the large usage spike at the left of the bar chart was a phone call, the rest of the usage is stuff like news and chrome, ie. a browser - nothing that should KILL the battery at that rate. The large bar at the right shows google and news are the only apps draining the battery. So I basically have to be near a charger now otherwise the battery drain is such that I'm actually getting to the point where the phone is switching off because lack of charge. Surely this isn't normal, ie. if I have news loaded and use google then the battery literally drains at an exponential rate.

Regardless, rather than getting a day of usage I'm getting a few hours. This is getting to the point where the phone is unusable. Although it is clear that I should dump the google app because it is a major culprit, but News? That's gotta be a bad thing if I have to start dumping Apple's own apps because they use up too much battery. Any advice appreciated:

Yep. I usually don't notice my battery much because I use a charger all the time. (in the car, at work, at home, etc) My phone is used a lot so I instinctively put it on a charger. That being said, in two hours it went from 100% to 48%. Then I watched it drop each minute with no apps running. I rebooted the phone just to be sure, and it rebooted from 34% to 1% after the reboot. However, It worked fine. I checked emails and downloaded pix but the percentage said 1% the whole time.

This is about what mine is doing too. iPhone 7. Takes about 7 hours to go from 100% to 11% with almost no use. Just lying on my desk with a couple text messages coming through. It never did this until the upgrade to 12.3.1. In Settings under Battery it says the the Home & Lock Screen are eating most of the battery charge.

So what's the fix? Does the downgrading to IOS 12.3 work? I'm about to try it because the phone is becoming a hassle to use with this quickly a battery drain going on.

My iPhone 7 has a battery drain since IOS 12.3.1

It happens just at night when all apps are closed and the iPhone is loaded by the power cable. In the morning the ‘activities’ show 100% during the complete night till I use my iPhone again in the morning. You do not find the extreem use by some app. It is IOS that is consuming. By the extreem and long activity at night, the iPhone is not loaded to 100%.

I've had an iPhone for 10 years now. I currently have an iPhone 7+. This is not the first time an iOS update has caused major battery life issues for me. I do nothing on my phone and it says that iMessages has used 23% of the battery in just a few hours (I think I got 2 texts during that timeframe). This is just ridiculous! My battery went from lasting all day with plenty to spare to me needing to charge it 2 times a day! I see that several folks have found workarounds, but we should not have to wipe our phone or downgrade it to fix Apple's problem. They should provide a fix and NOW!

Apple needs to get their act together and do a little QA on their software releases. I need a reliable phone and cannot be tethered to a power supply all day. No wonder they are beginning to lose market share. Steve Jobs would be ashamed! I'm seriously considering getting the new Pixel3.

IOS 12.3.1 update.

Battery lasts less than one day.

I usually have enough battery for 2 days because I don’t use my phone excessively.

Since the last update, it barely lasts one day. I’ve charged my phone yesterday evening, I had 70% at 7 this morning, and at 2 pm I’ve only 30% left. And I only used for a few emails, 30 minutes of musique and some shopping online.

So I really think something’s wrong.

My iPhone XR 128GB (100% battery health) is brand new and barely used for 6 weeks when I did the upgrade and ever since the battery drain in idle (even on airplane mode the same) exists. Literally tried everything from a restart to a DFU reset and within all the settings and nothing made any difference. My phone drains exactly 4% of battery per hour in idle regardless day or night. Prior to the upgrade battery life was amazing since I'm not a heavy user could last for 36+ hours from a single charge. Previously owned a 6s and never encountered such a problem. My suggestion for you all is to wait till the next official update which is 12.4 and to do from iTunes instead of the phone itself. Hopefully it just might fix this.

Yes, my phone goes dead after 3 hours of use now!!! 2 hours of YouTube and 1 hour of Safari took it from 100 to 0, it’s ridiculous. I never had any issues before the 12.3.1 update, now it’s terrible. I have watched it lose 10% within 30 seconds of opening Waze, who can operate their daily routine if their phone constantly has to be on the charger???It makes you hate your Apple, that’s for sure.

True that. And I've literally gone through tons of forums and discussions in last couple of weeks. Out here where I live (Sri Lanka) we don't have apple stores or genius bars at all, just authorized dealers. Took mine to the shop I purchased and they told it's most probably is an effect caused by the recent update so to wait till the next one comes and do it.
