MacBook Pro Wi-Fi Connectivity

Hi. I've experienced a lot of connectivity issues with my Wi-Fi at home this week, but only on my MacBook Pro. It was purchased in 2015, but has all the latest updates. I've never had an issue in the past and there have been no changes this past week.

However, each of Mon-Wed. nights, after 10-30 minutes, my MacBook pro will stop loading Web pages. All the iPhones, Alexas, TV streaming services, cameras, etc. in the house have not been impacted that also run on Wi-Fi (password protected, so no neighbors are jumping in on it). The MacBook Pro will say it's connected to Wi-Fi, but the Web pages will not load after a bit. Running a speedtest via my iPhone says we're still getting 50 mbps (AT&T doesn't have a higher option in our area) & that device works fine. In restarting my MacBook Pro, it'll work fine for another 10-30 minutes before the pages stop loading again. Has anyone run into this or found a workaround beyond restarting the device each time?

It worked fine last night, but I don't want it to die out on me again over the weekend without a resolution. I've looked into whether a Wi-Fi channel is overcrowded and what frequency it's operating on (2.4 vs. 5 GHz), and it doesn't appear either of those are the problem. Signal strength is also good since my router is in the same room I typically use the laptop in. Thanks in advance.

At this point, I would suggest two things:

  1. Reset your Mac's SMC. How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
  2. Run an EtreCheck report and post it here. Using EtreCheck to Troubleshoot Potential… - Apple Community

The issue continues to be hit or miss without rhyme or reason. The SMC seemed to help for a day. Some nights are mostly fine, while others are rough and I have to restart my computer in order to re-establish a connection that loads pages. I did the EtreCheck report Thursday night (posted below) & removed the potential adware files, but the issue has been really bad tonight (Saturday), so that must not have been it.

Before you provide us with the next report, please re-read the article I sent you carefully. It will let you know that you should enable Full Disk Access so that EtreCheck can include kernel panics or diagnostic reports AND inform you on how to include the full report with the ASC editor's Additional Text tool.

Jun 26, 2019 8:50 PM in response to BDAqua

BDAqua, removing that fourth item may have done the trick. I haven't had any connectivity issues the past three nights. Thanks!

Tesserax, if the problem comes back, I'll run a fresh report & post here using the "additional text" option. When I ran the first report, I tried to troubleshoot myself by deleting some files & had held off 1-2 days before posting when I realized it wasn't fully effective, so I didn't go back to the instructions about how to fit the full report into a single post.
