Is it safe to wall mount Mac mini?

Hi. I'm soon going to buy the Mac mini but I don't have a lot of space on my desk so I was thinking about putting it up on the wall, but I'm worried that the fans performance might not be as good and might damage the Mac mini?

If I do find a place on my desk for it, how far from the wall do you think the Mac mini shall be for the cooling to work right?

Thanks in advance

Yes it’s possible as long as you use a mounting kit like this one: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HLXK2LL/A/innovelis-totalmount-pro-mounting-system-for-mac-mini

The main vent is in the rear where the ports are. The gap provided by connecting cables (slightly less than 1 inch) is more than sufficient for air flow. So yes, you can push it back as far as it’ll go.

I would recommend placing it flat on your desk, wall mount the monitor instead. It’s more convenient to swap cables, reach for the power switch etc. Cosmetically too, since a wall mount will lessen the impact of the mini’s wonderful-looking, space grey finish (until Apple comes out with its own mount, unlikely).

Would you rather have your shining mini sit on the driveway, or have it stand vertical on mounts inside your garage? I rest my case.
