Malware

Any suggestions for removing malware from computer? I keep getting pop-ups through chrome about ads or that my computer has a virus I need to remove and companies trying to sell their "cleanup mac" but then if I download a program to clean it it doesn't work.

There are several places among Apple Support articles to look; and a few great third party applications

that run free to deal with actual causes. These articles cover cures to the issues behind symptoms.

• Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popups and web pages - apple community

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8071

• Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phone support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204759

Should your search take you to further resolutions, you may learn/use Etrecheck; & also MalwareBytes.

• Using EtreCheck to Troubleshoot Potential Mac Issues - apple community

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000632

• Malwarebytes for Mac - (free version)

Each of these has helpful purpose, troubleshoot issues, & resolve problems.
