Hi folks. I don’t know if you’ve tried this, but I’ve FINALLY managed to get round the problem.

I’m using my 2nd pair of these earphones, due to me swapping my first pair that I thought had an issue. But it’s going to be the same on virtually EVERY pair of these headphones for ALL of us.

The design is terrible, and it’s all because the connection points are so small. What I do now after using them, is slide the main screen of my iPhone or iPad to the right to display the battery levels of all of my linked devices, and then open my Powerbeats Pro charging case. The case should be displayed on the screen and also show the headphones individually. As they are placed into the charging case, they should individually show a ‘bolt of lightning’ image next to each of them if they are charging. If not, then slowly and VERY carefully apply tiny movements to the individual headphone until it displays the ‘bolt of lightning’ image on the screen. Once both of them have that image, carefully close the lid, and be careful as you move the charging box around.

It’s a terrible design, but at least the headphones are great when I’m out running or in the gym.

***I hope I’m helping someone, because I’m finally happy now that I’ve figured out this terrible design error.***

@SurfCityNC that is another common complaint with the Powerbeats Pro left earpiece problem but I think it is a different issue than the one where it is just dead. A lot of people complain about problems seatings the Powerbeats Pro earpieces so it seems to be an issue. I have not personally had that issue but I checked it out thoroughly with my own Powerbeats Pro problem. My problem is that the Powerbeats left earpiece is totally disconnected and dead. It won't charge and no matter what I try it like its not even there. I'm sorry you are also having an issue. Hopefully if enough people complain they will pay attention.

I finally contacted Apple Support about my Powerbeats Pro almost a week ago about left earpiece issue and they promised to send me a box right away to send them in so they could look at them. I still have not heard or received anything from them and its been enough time I think so I am going to need to call again. I may have to try to return my Powerbeats Pros to Best Buy. I am just over their 30 day return period but perhaps since my Powerbeats are defective they will take them back.

The worst part for me is they don't actually sound all that great. I have the Powerbeats earbuds that are connected together and so I have been listening to them again and they sound better for less than half the price. So I think its maybe a crappy product to begin with that was overhyped.

Lesson here for me is don't ever buy a version 1.0 product. Wait for the issues to be worked out in version 2. Good luck.

I have seen some comments that appear to be from Apple Support in many threads on other products. I've used tons of Apple devices personally and professionally over the past 15 years so I have looked up lots of things and seen them here. This is the first time I have ever felt ripped off and unsupported as an Apple Customer and I think that the silence from Apple Support on this speaks louder than anything. Good luck.

That's a great post. I didn't know how to see the battery charge individually on the Powerbeats Pro pods. I did what you suggested and when you slide the screen to the right and see the battery level of devices, if you don't see the Powerbeats Pros, select the batteries title and it will show you all your connected devices. When in the charging case you don't see the post individually but when you take them out you do. So that was super helpful. In my case, it showed both pods are 100% but when I play, only the right pos is displayed and is playing. So I think it is unfortunately 2 different issues. One is the charging case design and the other is the left Powerbeats Pro pod un paring from the right and being lost. I've also seen others post that they got them sent back to them with the same issue. So I'm not optimistic for my issue but your post was the most helpful I have seen for the Powerbeats Pro charging issue by far!

Same issue. I make sure that both left and right show the lightning bolt before I close the case. I’ve seen instances where one of the earpieces almost immediately loses charging connection when I reopen case. Other times I open case next morning before a workout and one or both earpieces have low charge. Clearly an issue with the case design but also why aren’t the earpieces turning off in the case. I’ve put earpieces in the case at 90% and pulled them out the next morning with 11% on left or right. Thank god for the quick charge. I have latest firmware and done the reset nonsense. This product doesn’t work as advertised and it’s time blog reviewers had the courage to start saying so.

I love the Powerbeats pro... I use them when walking the dog... sadly I had them in my hand as somebody was chatting to me... as I walked passed the dog poo bin out of habit I threw them in ... gutted and did not realise till later .. too late , as I love them I brought a 2nd pair... now both sets have the same issue I.e right one fully charged left one flat .... same issue with both pairs... mmmmm!!! Come on Apple you have a problem ? Poor connection? Possible rattle around in the case and looses charge? Can anyone help ?

I’ve had my set of Powerbeats Pro for just over a month and sometimes the left bud will not charge, it’s happened to me on four occasions. The latest being this morning while at the gym, which is where I am writing this from! For 250€ I was expecting much better reliability, I have never experienced such reliability issues with other brands. I am at the point where I don’t trust them and it feels like a gamble each morning I go to the gym. I will create a support case with Beats or Apple today and see what happens. I will say that the fit and comfort is the best out of any sports headphones I’ve ever tried, but with the issues I’m experiencing I feel like I made a purchase mistake. Maybe better to wait for Gen 2 versions and better QC.

My right one doesn't work - won't charge and won't connect. I have received the worst customer support ever from Apple. After promising to replace it, they won't. Nor will they give me a refund. And their techs say they can't duplicate the problem which is ridiculous because it doesn't work. They are now actually telling me they will send the product back and then I need to send it back to them again. Absolutely awful. If anyone from Apple is reading this why won't you solve my problem? I have been a long time customer but I don't be coming back after this.

I’ve basically given up using my Powerbeats Pros at this point. They are totally inconsistent. Sometimes they charge sometimes they don’t no matter how carefully I seat them in the charger. I have no hope that Apple will replace them or that they will work even if they are replaced!

An interesting side-note... there are NO negative reviews or updates from the popular reviewers. I guess that shows the tech-reviewers could care less about product follow-up. They don’t want to jeopardize free lunches and products in the future. My two (frustrated) cents.
