after a month's use, suddenly my left powerbeats pro earpiece stopped taking charge when kept for charging in the case, any solutions?

Hi folks. I don’t know if you’ve tried this, but I’ve FINALLY managed to get round the problem.

I’m using my 2nd pair of these earphones, due to me swapping my first pair that I thought had an issue. But it’s going to be the same on virtually EVERY pair of these headphones for ALL of us.

The design is terrible, and it’s all because the connection points are so small. What I do now after using them, is slide the main screen of my iPhone or iPad to the right to display the battery levels of all of my linked devices, and then open my Powerbeats Pro charging case. The case should be displayed on the screen and also show the headphones individually. As they are placed into the charging case, they should individually show a ‘bolt of lightning’ image next to each of them if they are charging. If not, then slowly and VERY carefully apply tiny movements to the individual headphone until it displays the ‘bolt of lightning’ image on the screen. Once both of them have that image, carefully close the lid, and be careful as you move the charging box around.

It’s a terrible design, but at least the headphones are great when I’m out running or in the gym.

***I hope I’m helping someone, because I’m finally happy now that I’ve figured out this terrible design error.***

I am currently waiting in my truck for my right ear piece to charge, this is becoming a more normal routine as they should of been charged sitting in the case but the right ear piece is having charging issues with connect-ability... really disappointed in Apple I will be trying to return these at some point this week. Test your products Apple this is unacceptable

Initially I thought it was just the pair I got, but after a full month of issues with my right ear piece, I sent them in. Within 5 days, they returned them to me telling me that there was nothing wrong with them. Similar to many of you, the charging issue has continued to persist. I have tried to wiggle the right connection prior to closing to make sure its activated. But the problem is I'm not sure if the charging connectivity is poor because of the right ear piece or because of the case. I'm afraid to send them again just to get the same issue, so it seems like I'm stuck with a useless piece of hardware (technically the left ear piece still works perfectly fine so I could listen to music with one ear..). Would the Samsung buds be a better product to switch to?

I sent mine back after trying to persevere with them for a few months. Apple have just contacted me to say they are water damaged! £80 to repair them!

********! They've been faulty since new! And how can something that's meant for sport get water damaged????

Apple! You are a disgrace! They headphones are seriously flawed! Admit it!

Years of being a loyal fan.....To this. I tell you what, they Pro's I bought last week.....You can have them back now before they go tits up.

Ciao.

Apple - are you doing anything about this? I bought 3 of them $750 2 black and one blue and all have the same problem. Left one stops charging and I went through all your steps and even clean and put them back each time but this is a workout product. Are you doing anything to make this right? Not contact support - or are u waiting for enough people to get together to start a class action. To have is run back and forth to apple is ridiculous and wait in lines. Simply would like an opportunity to exchange for a non-beats headset airpod pro or something. Of course problem started after the return date for all 3 so now I feel totally stuck!

After my second repair which included the case being changed I thought the problem was fixed but got case out of bag at lunchtime and the left one was only 1% charge whereas right was still 100%. Another discussion with Apple support during which I requested a refund which was declined as outside 14 days of purchase.

I pointed out that this is supposed to be a premium product (which it is when in use) that is useless if not fit for purpose which in my case is being able to charge reliably on the go when taking part in an ultra or or out camping for the weekend. They will go back to Apple for third time via my local reseller as otherwise it’s a 100 mile round trip to the Apple store. I have no faith that they will charge reliably for any period of time and a replacement may just lead to a repeat. It’s a shame as I really like the fit and sound of them and the features I wanted work. Just not the charging. How these got through Apple/Beats quality control test prior to launch is beyond me.

very frustrated. I’d even take a credit note at a push.

So, I'm not the only one. I own many Apple products and by far this is the biggest disappointment. I'm experiencing intermittent charge problems with both headphones. I tried every possible way to correct this with no luck. To point out, I'm not using them for exercise so sweat is not an issue. This should be a recall, period.

I'm not sure why are we looking for workarounds on a premium product that is clearly suffering a design issue. I purchased those so I can carry them around in my laptop bag where they are ready for me to use whenever I need them. I'm refusing to think that being gentle to the case is a solution. My wife owns first generation of air-pods and she is very rough with them and she never had any charging issues. Also she never had to hard reset them for any reason. Something needs to be done by Apple, this is a recent expensive product that is not meeting original design purpose.

Thanks for this. I have never updated the firmware on them. That might be it. I also am very careful on how I place them in the charging case and the red light always goes on to indicate a charge.

Also, even if the contact isn't made on the pin how would the battery completely drain to 0%? To me that says the headphone is still running. When you take it off your ear it should stop shouldn't it? I would expect the battery to be a little lower when I use them next, but not 0%.
