At this time the Service Program is limited to 13".
https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service
however if at any time it is expanded to include your 15", typically Apple will issue a refund for out of pocket expenses for parts & labor... Having a service ticket will be your receipt..."affected by this issue, and you paid to have your display repaired, you can contact Apple about a refund."

Hey apple has removed my comment because it wasn't "constructive". Just letting you know.
I know my feedback contained a rant and clearly it doesn't make Apple looks good. But people have to be aware. So if you will, remove this comment also. Just dont be surprised if I happen to rant somewhere else in more than 1 post.
Welcome to the large club. Perhaps you, like me, didn’t use your laptop every day and it took longer for the cable to break down. Missed Apple care replacement because I didn’t realize what was going on until it was out of apple care. I thought it was a waking issue at first. Unfortunately Apple doesn’t “care”.
2017 MBP 15” just had display issues arise. If the screen shows any symptoms it nullifies all trade in value and apple wasn’t much help besides saying it would cost $750 and saying their standard response for the issue.
Especially disappointed since my MacBook hasn’t left my desk in several months and has been plagued with issues from blown out speakers to keyboard etc. in the past.
Hey, i amf from Brazil and I am facing THE SAME problem! Does anyone knows some way to fix it or maybe a contact from Apple?
Also, I have everything recorded from my conversation with Apple support and theyu clearly said by phone that this would be repaired.
Same problem for me... I hope Apple will help all the 15 inch model owners. When you buy Apple, spending big money, it's desirable to get the best product and the best assistance. If not, there will be no difference with competitors...
A design problem should not badly affect users..
It didn't use to be like this when I had flexgate on my MacBook 2017. Now, the screen dies after opening the lid nearing the 90 degrees angle. I'm afraid it'll get worse for you guys who haven't had this problem. Your screen will turn off somewhere near the future. I'm sad cause I love this mac. I went wild at the apple store, still they offered no support. Being angry is pretty much useless now. I'm going to sell my Mac and never gonna waste money on Mac again. It's very much overpriced. I'm deeply disappointed and surprised at the same time that they refuse to take responsibility.
Not happy to see that apple extend the repair to 13” display and those who paid more to buy better 15” product are not getting any support, what’s our mistake? Buying bigger and paying more to apple are our mistake or having bigger faith in apple products are our mistake.
Never thought Apple would play such games?
Last apple product if no resolution comes.
Thanks apple for no support.
SAME ISSUE. My 2017 Macbook Pro 15 inch has started getting this flexgate issue. It turns off display if I turn it past around 45 degrees. Now Apple wants me to pay for the issue since they haven't acknowledged this problem for the 15 inch. Why must a company like Apple choose to make its customers fight for what is a design flaw and should be fixed for free?
I'm having exactly the same problem in Brazil
My MacBook Pro has been 3 weeks with the AASP now, no solution in sight or any admission this is a more general problem.
My MacBook Pro 15" have the same issue as the 13" inch model but Apple denied the free service saying the replacement program is only for 13" models. PATHETIC!
https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service
The rep is only for 13 inch models so it can not be applied on 15 inch model
Everyone needs to report this problem. The Apple support staff are not made aware of it(or told to pretend not to know).https://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html
I’ve visitied apple store and they quoted me $780 + tax.
it’s too expensive
they agreed with there is no physical damage or liquids but Why do I pay $830 to fox it?
Same issue, worst mistake buying a macbook,
If apple doesn’t extend the repair Program to 15” it’ll be the last apple I own.
I have a same issues with my 2017 15" Macbook Pro... 800dollars screen replacement is NOT options for a 3000dollars laptop after two years... We need this program as 13" users...
