To be fair, I do have another brand laptop that has a display cable problem. It is however running Windows 95. Some of you guys weren’t even born when I bought it.

Just shelled out over $700 to repair a 2017 model 15 inch crapbook prob that looks brand new but you can't open the screen more than 30 degrees before it turns off. Please add to recall. Thanks

+1 here, 2017 MBP 15" Apple want $1000 to fix it. Numerous threads online about this issue, how is there not a recall/service program for this?

I am facing the same issue. Mine is MacBook Pro 15 inch 2017 model and I'm from India.

I contacted apple support plus went to the service centre multiple times but they were of no help.

This issue is being faced by many users and Apple needs to fix this issue ASAP.

I can't spend 65,000 INR after buying the laptop. That's a complete rip off.

Come on Apple this is ridiculous, so many users complain about this issue. This is really a fault by design! I have laptops from 2011 that still work fine and i payed only a quart of the price for those laptops. I paid more than 4000 euros and i expect to receive the best laptop on the market.

This is simply lame!

They really do not care unfortunately. Funny thing is that even when they do replace a 2016 13" screen on an A1706/08, as far as I know they just use the same screen with the defective flex cables. So it's a ticking time bomb again.

I agree. Apple needs to resolve this and extend the warranty to 15” models. It’s ridiculous to have something this faulty and not take responsibility for it.

Anyone know if simply exchanging the flex cable solves this or only the full 700$ repair?

If apple doesn’t extend the repair Program to 15” it’ll be the last apple I own.
