Error, mail not downloading and I need step by step instructions, I’m not THAT knowlegeable

good morning, on my iPad, all of a sudden I am getting account error and my mail won’t update. How do I fix this?

Cannot reinstall my Apple mail account Hi. I deleted this account on my iPhone because I kept getting the error message connection to server failed, but I cannot reinstate it.
