Apple TV 4 has problems with Amazon Prime

I have the Amazon Prime app on my Apple TV 4. I have IOS 12.3 on that device. I am an Amazon Prime user, and I cannot view Season 7 & Season 8 of the TV Series THE PRACTICE. I always get the error codes 5004 or 9345. I have been reporting this problem to Amazon Prime Video since mid February 2019 when this first started to occur, and they refuse to do anything about this problem. I spoke to an Apple Care specialist about this problem, and she had the same error code when she tried to view those two seasons. Amazon Prime adverftises that Seasons 1-8 are available on Amazon Prime of THE PRACTICE, but they are not. Only Seasons 1-6 are available on the Apple TV 4. I can see those seasons on my iMac using a broswer, but that is not how I want to view those videos. Amazon says they are creating a ticket and they will report this problem to tech support, but they have been saying this since February 2019, and the problem is not resolved. HELP? When I try to open season 7 or 8 of THE PRACTICE on Amazon Prime App, there is only a blank box with the words at the top of the screen on my TV that indicates it is Season 7 or Season 8 of THE PRACTICE. With Seasons 1-6 there is a picture of Bobby with the words THE PRACTICE in the box, but for seasons 7 & 8, the box is blank.

About the writing to Amazon thing, I wrote to this email address that I found on the internet for Jeff Bezos - jeff@amazon.com. The character who wrote back says the reason I can't watch THE PRACTICE on my Apple TV is that the Amazon Prime Video App is not available to Apple TV. Now I find it really strange that someone claiming to be a representative of the executive department at Amazon would make this claim. Everything I can find at the App Store all says that the Amazon Prime Video App is available to Apple TV. It would appear tht Amazon has more than warehouse problems.

Also, I find it curious that within 24 hours of writing to that internet provided email address for jeff the viewing problems I have experienced at the Amazon Prime Video app on my Apple TV 4 were totally resolved. CURIOUSER AND CURIOUSER!

I agree about Apple talking to Amazon about this common problem for Apple TV users. I wrote to both executives and did receive a response from each company. So far they have fixed the problem for my account, but other users continue to have this problem. I don't understand why the app gives the 5004 error for some videos and not others. And according to Amazon, the 5004 error code is about wrong login info being entered. If that was true, then why do some videos work and not others? I was finally able to view season 7 of THE PRACTICE, but when I saw who was staring on season 8, I stopped watching that series. I like the Bobby character, and not replacement.

All Apple can do is verify that an app meets their guidelines and approve it for sale in the store, any issues therein are to be dealt with directly by the developer.


I wouldn’t waste your time writing to Jeff , as he would care even less than those front line workers. Since it is clear that they are showing little interest the only way to escalate it is to stop using the service, and once all affected users do that and let them know why perhaps they will take notice.

I did a browser search for Jeff Bezos' contact info, and an email address was locted. I wrote to that email address, and I have received a reply from a member of the executive team for Jeff. Maybe this person will resolve this problem. He has been able to resolve all the other video viewing problems I have experienced except for viewing THE PRACTICE using the Prime Video app on my Apple TV 4.

I have the same Apple4k/Amazon Error Code 5004 For 4 years this has worked great. For whatever reason/s THE PRACTICE and btw some other Prime Video TV shows are now acting up!


As to this being an Amazon problem - that much seems to be true - however Apple needs to pull up their socks and speak out! As two of the biggest, mightiest and most powerful companies on the planet I think Jeff would take Tim's call and get this fixed! All iit takes is one call.


Perhaps Apple doesn't wan it fixed as they are introducing their own Video service in a few weeks this Fall. Hmmmmm.

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately hours of phone calls to Amazon have been totally useless. I'm not usually so ineffective, but I cannot get Amazon to do more than blow smoke at me. They say they are creating a ticket, and it will be resolved in 2-3 days, and it isn't. They say they will follow up with a phone call to verify the fix, and they don't. Now I have a new video in their app that is having the same problem. This is so annoying, and I don't know what more to do.

That was the first workaround I tried, but there is that block for AirPlay at Amazon. Amazon wants me to settle for watching those two seasons and all the following videos that won't play on the Apple TV 4 on my computer in a browser. I'm not willing to put up with the discomfort of sitting at my desk to watch that many hours of TV. I'm writing a USPS letter to Jeff Bezos to see if he will put someone on the job. I really don't know what else to do. Amaon is certainly aware of the problem, and it seems they don't care. Their troubleshooting steps are totally useless for the problem that I am experiencing with THE PRACTICE and all the other videos that won't play. SO FRUSTRATING! I'm usually pretty good at getting a company to pay attention to my complaints, but not with this problem with Amazon. There is definitely a problem with their app that they are putting in the App Store. It's too bad Apple won't get involved since I think it reflects poorly on them since it's in their store.

I can actually help you, but unfortunately Apple keeps deleting my response. I love Apple products, I have iPhones, iPads and a Mac but because what you need to do is not a technical workaround they won’t let me post it. I tried to send you my email address instead but they deleted that post too stating it’s not good to put your email address on the forum. I have the had the same problem with the practice, kept receiving an error message. I did figure out how to get around the problem. This is for the technician that is going to delete this post, please take a look at the error message and see if you can tell us a way to get past it on the Apple TV it would be greatly appreciated as Amazon is being of no help.

i actually love William Shatner on Boston Legal, he plays a brilliant lawyer who is suffering from Alzheimer’s and every now and then that brilliance comes through which is why they put up with his buffoonery. Great acting on his part, it is my favorite Legal show. It is why I wanted to watch the Practice to see how it all started with Boston Legal. I’m glad you wrote Jeff Bezos’s team, as uninformed as they were at least it got fixed...give Boston Legal a second chance and look at William Shatner’s role as the great lawyer they say he is who is fighting this terrible disease....great acting.
