Airpods Always Disconnecting on All Devices

I have my 1st gen airpods about more than 1 year ago and have been using it on my iPhone X, iPad Mini and HP laptop with no issues. Just recently, my airpods always disconnects to these devices after about 1 minutes listening to music. Reconnecting it, only the left unit is functioning and disconnects again after a minute. I have tried resettting it and it works properly for about a minute and the same issue occurs. Tried other suggestions like closing other bluetooth connections of other devices, disabling automatic ear detection, etc but I still encounter the same issue. Note that the batteries are more than 95% charged. The same issue happens to my iPhone X, iPad mini and HP Spectre laptop. Note that the airpod firmware is 6.7.8. Has anybody experiencing the same issue? It's frustrating as I cannot use my airpods. Any suggestions? How can I downgrade the firmware? Hoping for a solution to this. Thank you.

Tried rebooting my iPhone and again restored to factory settings my airpods. Now after now 1 minute of listening to music, the left airpod disconnects and right is still working. Tried to put back the disconnected pod on the charging case and after 3 seconds I put it back on my ear and the connection is restored. After again 1 minute or so, the same left pod is disconnected again. The right airpod is always working on all this testing.

What could be defective on my left ipod? Thanks.

If you have reached this post in this discussion ¡CONGRATULATIONS! you just realized Apple is NOT going to fix the 6.8.8 firmware issue, any troubleshooting you might find will NOT work and taking them to an Apple Store will NOT be fixed since the ONLY solution to this problem is to buy a new pair. Apple is not going to provide support to a product that is no longer under warranty and out of their lineup.

So you either buy a new pair or you don't... honestly there is no purpose to keep having this open discussion.

I feel your frustration. I am in disbelieve too. Not particularly an Apple fan but iPhone/iPad/Airpods have been my number 1 for years. I also understand why you feel that having this discussion open has no purpose, though I think if none of us speak up Apple will keep doing this again and again. Rather I would suggest to keep posting here and referring to this discussion on as many other tech platforms as you can. Every company eventually succumbs under great media pressure.

So here we are, this issue started around mid 2018 with a firmware upgrade that, like in my case as many others I see here, just messed up our AirPods 1st Gen. Still here in 2021 with not even a glimpse of mercy from Apple's side to truly address this issue. Not planing on ever buying another AirPods in my life if I don't see this fixed. Incredible how they force people to buy new gen products by rendering previous ones useless, not because of physical damage, but with updates in charge to do it. And people we are at fault for letting it happen by falling in their game knowing this kind of stuff is happening. Unacceptable...

This is also happening to me. My L air pod isn't working on my Macbook, so I reset them using my iphone. They both work for about 30 seconds, then disconnect from my iphone. When. They will stay connected to my macbook, but only the R airpod working. Very frustrating, and a waste of my time to keep trying to forget the device, reboot, reset.

I agree, but would still like to confirm if at least a few have solved it by replacing the battery, just something I read somewhere, I am desparate to find at least one proof that it could work in some cases, also would be nice to have an opinion of someone who recently bought a brand new 1st gen airpods and see if out of the box the problem is there nowadays. But would be nice to know if at least one have tried it before trying myself with the battery replacement.

If you buy brand new ones, you'll have warranty. Issue solved!

Your affected AirPods will NEVER work again, you can use them for whatever else you want. Issue solved!

You can never buy another AirPod again or if you're really that mad, an Apple product never again. Issue solved!

Honestly, this thread can be close now, this is not going to get any attention, solution or response from Apple, get over it people!

Same problem here. Have the latest firmware for gen1 airpods. They disconnects after 5-10 minutes and the battery level is 70% and above. If i put the airpods in the case for 1 second and then take it out i can listen in 5-10minutes. No sound for lowbattery or nothing... just cuts the connection. Killed by firmware =( that's sad and should be illegal...
