Hi all! My buddy foolishly and accidentally clicked on and installed Mac cleaner pro. I was able to remove most of it using Malwarebytes. However, his homepage in Safari will not let me update it using preferences. It instantly reverts back to the hijack,and will not let me change that.
please tell me how to fix this and be rid of the hijack? Thanks!!!
Check in Safari > Preferences > Extensions. If there is an Extension you don't recognize delete it.

Finally solved the problem by simply typing in the new homepage and clicking on another tab at the top of the preferences page...the new homepage stuck right as it should! Thank you thank you for your assistance!

Did you restart and then try changing it Safari > Preferences > Search > Search Engine?
Yes, I did, but to no avail...it will not hold the new homepage I type in...it immediately falls back to the hijack and does not respond to “use current homepage” button. Anything else to do????

Did you do this step?
Visit the site you want it be the Home page.
Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage
Click the button “Set to Current Page” button.
Restart your Mac.
